For Nashville (Since Nashville is among the only contending team that if you give back a fair amount of salary can take on the Sedins both max retained).

Jarnkrok, Ribeiro, one of Fiala or Fabbro, 1st round pick (Only if we make the playoffs), if not becomes 2nd rounder. I believe the Sedins will still be able to help us tremendously.

I think that'd be an awful trade for Nashville. Riberio's still a competent 50-60 point center I just don't think they're worth giving up a top prospect and a 1st with two quality roster players.

We're already not protecting Jarnkrok or Riberio, and we'd have to protect the Sedans, which would be beyond dumb.

They are a package deal. Unless you are retaining the max 50%, no one even considers this. Even at that you would likely have to take some salary back as not many Cup contenders (the only type of team they would waive their NMCs for) are able to take $7M of salary on. Now onto the NMC... since they likely do not want to be separated they would not waive their NMC at the Expansion Draft, which means they have to be protected... no one is doing that.

Translation of the above: AFTER the Expansion Draft you MIGHT be able to trade them IF you retain 50%.

Well I know they are probably gonna play the rest of their contracts here and they probably don't want to leave. Hopefully the team finishes top 4 in the draft the next three years, to rebuild the forward system. Defense we can pick up a UFA and they are set. But anyways with Hawks

:hawks

Daniel Sedin(50%)
Henrik Sedin(50%)

:nucks

Hjalmarsson
Panik
2017 1st
2017 2nd

The Hawks get the Sedins adding depth and to keep competing for possibly another cup and they are retained 50%.

Canucks get top 4 Dman and some depth players to help with depth and two picks for the future. They most likely won't be that high either.

Each Sedin alone is worth a 1st plus and for the 2 with retention you barely even offer that

With that said, no team can afford to give up the assets it would take besides teams that aren't cup contenders. The cost would be a 1st, an A prospect, a B prospect and then some depending on how bad the salaries coming back are and the retention

Not impossible to move if Canucks will retain 50% and take back a bad contract or two.

Kings could probably pull off a deal to take both with no cap retention. But Vancouver would be taking back Brown+Gaborik+Greene to make the salaries work. LA would still need to toss something (probably alot) in to make it palatable.

Retain 50% and we will send you Brown.

From Montreal, for the Sedin's at 50% retained I wouldn't mind a deal involving Plekanec, Hudon and a 1st.

Then try and get a top 3 LHD in another deal.

EXPANSION DRAFT... NMC (look it up)

and 'no' the receiving team is not buying 2 Sedins out after half a season.

Oh crap I forgot they had NMC... However if they didn't, I'd definitely do the trade. Henrik Sedin will still score more while being far better defensively than Ribeiro without needing 90% offensive and neutral starts (Will still need about 70%).

Even with both having max retention, this is terrible for the Hawks as they won't have enough cap space to take them on, and Hjalmarsson is a criminally underrated and important player. He's the best defensive player in the league (Shark fans will want my head lol...)

I'd love for them to get one last crack at a cup, it's obviously not going to happen here. They'd be great for secondary scoring even at this age.

After the Expansion draft

Sedins 50% to Dallas for Honka, Gurianov, 1st and Niemi

2 solid prospects and 1st while also helping remove more salary off Dallas books taking Niemi.

or

Sedins 50% to Nashville for Fabbro, Fiala 1st.

Dallas really needs more firepower right? I'm sure they would love to trade their best prospects for slow cerebral players. Totally makes sense to gut their future.

Nashville, maybe (add Miller), but you're probably looking at return of taking back Rinne, 1st and something minor. Not their best prospects.

Well Dallas does have Sharp, Hudler, Hemsky, Eaves and Kourpikoski all hitting UFA, so they are loosing some fire power, Sedins also alleviate pressure off Benn and Seguin.

That's three 1sts and no cap going back to Vancouver. I don't think the Sedins are worth that next year.

So they would just gladly protect 2 old guys in the draft and trade their future? I dunno, better ask Dallas fans about that.......

With the expansion draft coming, nobody will want them this year. And the only teams that could afford them even with retention probably aren't contending, so that's when the NMC kicks in.

But being a Vancouverite, I think they should remain in Vancouver till they retire. I think this might be one of those instances where the return on a trade isn't worth as much as the good will it will generate.

What I mean by that is UFAs could look at how Vancouver treats players like the Sedins, that they're more that just 'assets' to be managed, and may think this might be a more desirable place to come. That could be worth more than the draft picks etc. they could get. Same when it comes to the Canuck's own UFAs.

It's like when Edm traded Ryan Smith, Modano and Alfredsson signing with Det, or Sundin in a Canucks uniform. It doesn't seem right.

I think loyalty can be an undervalued thing.

Sharks could do it at 50% if they took Marleau back. Doubt it happens, but it would be nice to see Jumbo and the Sedins get a cup in one go.

They could have room to protect 'em too, depending on how they time the Burns and Thornton extensions.

If management asks them to waive and they say no, that's fine with me. It was in their contact so they are well within their rights to elect to play out their contract with the canucks.

But, I do believe it is within the teams right to ask them to waive should they judge that to be in the teams best interests.

However, what Henrik said recently kind of bothers me in that they don't want to be split up on different lines. Think as team captain, he needs to accept that 29 goals in 15 games isn't good and that the head coach should do whatever it takes to generate more offense. Perfectly fine to say that he thinks Dan and him work better together, but it should still be up to the coach, whether that is WD, green, or someone else calling the shots in the near future.

Could anyone see the Sedins to NYR??We could retain however much.
These guys played their best years under AV, and I think he's a verrry underrated coach.

I'd want New York's 1st for sure. We could take back the contracts of Nash or McDonagh, or another player with a bloated contract.

We could also send a Dman their way, ie Subban or Sbisa.

I can't see it. NYR has a speedy forward group now with Hayes, Vesey, Stepan, Miller, Kreider, the Russian kid, Fast, etc.

Sedins don't fit in with that. They are slow.

That's why I can't see another team wanting both of them. One of them, you can make work with your style of play. Both of them, makes it very hard since they play a certain style.

Take Bonino, he's also slow, but with Haglin and Kessel on his wings, he's able to push the puck up to them and join the rush late and be the 3rd man high. But, if Haglin was also slow, would that line have worked?

If I was Benning, after I asked them to waive, I would tell them to have their agent talk to teams to gauge interest from teams interested in acquiring both of them. I honestly believe, they would be surprised that of their list of 5 teams they would accept a deal to, that maybe only 1 might want both of them.

I don't think any quality team would be lacking 2 top 6 forwards. Only if they lost one to injury near the TDL.

That's three 1sts and no cap going back to Vancouver. I don't think the Sedins are worth that next year.

Agreed, and with Johansen to be re-signed and Neal the season after, cap space would be a bit tight. Again, I just don't see a good fit based on where they are at in their careers and the age of the Preds core.

Sure, I'd say they have every right to ask, but IMHO, it's pretty unlikely they'd do it. They're pretty entrenched in Vancouver. Their kids go to school here. They've set up a life here. And from every indication, they seem like family first type of guys.

To me it'd be similar to when TO asked Sundin if they could trade him.

Not the way they're playing, they don't. You're not going to get a team to give up any future value for the Sedins as a rental.

In fairness, my post said they need to wait until next year to trade them - when they would be rentals. I do agree though, finding teams on the cusp of winning that can take on that much salary, even at 50% retained, will be tough. Most teams have at least one large, underperforming, contract that would likely need to go back and Vancouver would be wise to take that if it ups the return to first round picks, top-prospects, etc.

You're right, I did miss the "next year" piece of that. Reading comprehension ftw.

That said, even if a team could manage to squeeze them in cap wise bringing in 2 players that insist on playing together is going to be fair amount of rearranging for a roster. I'd argue that it's not going to be a cup contender that would want them so much as a team on the bubble looking for a hail mary to save them. True contenders tend to stick with getting players they think will blend in and not shake up team chemistry too much.
