Re: two spy talk.

A) they're not doing it on every play by any means

B) spies can also function as short zones, which they are doing a lot of. They're not true spies in that they approach the pocket and only play the QB. They're playing short zone on each side and those guys are also responsible for containment. They're not completely out of the coverage scheme just because they're "spying"

McDermott is the ceo of the team and has spoken extensively about his desire to have a core special teams unit. The ST coordinator does not have the authority to make them overpay for scrubs.
CEO is more of a figure head in most orgs. I am fine having a core group of ST players and McD can say they need to not cost a ton and be able to play in a pinch but ultimately the ST cord determines who goes out there and gets reps.

It's harder to make that case when all the numbers in aggregate show the Bills offense has still been pretty damn good. Points per game are still strong. Matt Canada is very much a different situation.

Dorsey is merely underachieving, not in the "worst OC in the league" conversation.

The offense is going to be always be good statistically considering the amount of talent and having a true franchise qb

I can’t believe he saw what they did in 2020 and decided, “No, I’d prefer if my offense didn’t look anything like this”
It's because they let all the "Allen is going to hurt himself!" talk get to their heads. They've self-neutered themselves thinking they're doing themselves a favor.

Well yeah. And I have absolutely no issue with their performance on the field. Their ST unit is fine. It’s the fact that we’re paying legitimate money for those guys, that’s the issue.

Dorsey may or may not be in over his head. But I think the problem starts above him.

Only thing I can think of is saying Josh doesn't get dialed up runs. If Sean really is saying, "we need to dial up long developing routes and expose our offense line" then he needs to go yesterday. He also publicly talks about a balanced game but Dorsey rarely calls one.

I’m not excluding Dorsey sucking as well.

I don't think the unit is fine, I'd like to look at Sal's charts but it always feels like when we field a punt it's always instant pressure or when we punt a guy is rarely there
