Would really like this guy in Montreal.

Is he available Calgary fans?

If so what would you be looking for as is and with 20% retention?

Available assets:
2023 1st rounder
Any 2nd rounder
Evans
Norlinder
Struble
Harris
Poehling
Mysak
Farrell
Ylonen
Fairbrother
Byron (cap reasons to make money work)
Lehkonen
Kulak

Possible something can be worked out?

A lot of those assets have zero value. Especially to the Flames who have too many depth d-men as it is. All these guys don't replace kylington, Gudbranson, Stone, etc... Even the forwards you've listed probably don't crack the Flames lineup.

The Flames are likely waiting until next year to figure it out. Monahan will look to rebound. The Flames need to know what's actually going on with the direction of their team.

They aren't trading Monahan now unless a legit #1 centre is coming in.

To answer your question first plus whatever of those other 1-2 assets the Flames thinks is the best gets it done when it's time to sell, but it's not time to sell.

No logic in trading him unless Calgary is getting Eichel. His value is at an all time low after playing the entire season injured. No point selling him at 25 cents on the dollar unless they are getting an upgrade also on discount price

That's a wee bit overly dogmatic...

There's logic to be found in a number of scenarios where Monahan is dealt for something other than an upgrade at C

Nobody trades a 1c for a lesser piece in Monahan. You better offer up more if you want a 1c. A legit 1c.

Tree would have traded him by now if he had a decent offer . He more or less said he tried moving him but it takes two to tango and he isn’t reading him for the sake of trading him . Like it’s been said . Ones not the time to trade him as it would be for pennies on the dollar

Kind of missed your chance. Probably wouldn't want to sell low on him right now but if they're out of it at the deadline he could be had. Not many of those assets are super interesting, 1st and Evans could probably get it done.

where's the "random bullshit go meme" when you need it.

Unless we can get a straight up better center than Monahan we'll hope he can get healthy.

That list of assets is so laughably bad

Outside of the 1st round pick and the 2nds they all have basically Zero value.

A lot of decent prospects. Tbf Montreal would have to add an established player + a prospect from that group to get the conversation starting I imagine though.

If the Flames have a poor season they may consider moving Monahan for a package of picks/prospects, but right now they're likely focused on making the playoffs. While I don't think they're contenders, I'd give them a good chance of at least making the playoffs and most playoffs teams don't (and shouldn't) be rebuilding.

Yeah, except our C depth is so terrible that they opted to play him injured (multiple years now) over sitting him because injured Monahan is better than any of our other C options for trying to make the playoffs.

Last year he got a hip injury in game 6, and didn't get sat until almost the end of the season when they were relying on other teams to lose as well.

Had nothing to do with centre depth and everything to do with coaching. Lindholm did a fantastic job as the #1 center over the last 20 games of the season. The top line should have been Gaudreau-Lindholm-Tkachuk for a while now. Two coaches in a row refused to break up Gaudreau/Monahan though. Baffling.

Lindholm looks like a legit #1 centre. He's even better at faceoffs than Monahan. As far as depth goes, the Flames have always had lots of it. The issue was quality, which was made worse by the refusal to play Lindholm at centre.
