TBH ,Stone isnt really a goalscorer. Most in the east know him as more of a playmaker, that scores by collecting garbage in and around the net

Selling low on Monahan makes no ****ing sense. Anyone who suggest trading him doesn't realize he'd likely get half the amount that they expect.

Stepan's not much of a goal scorer, I don't think he would fit our needs despite being a right shot. By the way he is four years older.

Could Stepan be a core piece in a package, large or small?
Not sure, just saying let's see what combos there are...

I don't think you sell low on Monahan, but value is impacted by rest of the pieces.

I wouldnt want Stepan in any way. He's good, but he's what, 5? Years older than Monahan, and is a playmaker. If you have a goal scoring forward that's under 23 and plays center, sure.

Consider that asked and answered, as I expect most Flames fans would also want a goal scorer, a finisher, not nec somebody who helps his linemates be productive.
Someone I think said 4 years

As a Kings fan, I pass on Toffoli for Monahan. The Kings would be dealing from a position of weakness (right handed skilled winger) to fill a position of strength (center, where there's Kopitar and Carter)

Is there any interest? Guys like Tyler Toffoli, Mark Stone, Nathan MacKinnon, Sam Reinhart, Tyler Johnson, Steven Stamkos, Jesse Puljujarvi, and William Nylander come to mind. Oh yeah, and Artemi Panarin. Oh and Filip Forsberg / Ryan Johansen.

An ELC prospect add or two, like Hathaway, Shinkaruk, Klimchuk, Poirier, Dube, or such would also be fair game from Calgary's side. Except for Jankowski, Kylington, and Andersson.

Current C's - McDavid, Draisaitl, Nugent-Hopkins
Current RW's- Eberle, Puljujarvi

why would the Oilers even consider trading for Monahan when they're thin on RW and have to protect him in the expansion draft? Not to mention he would be the Oilers highest paid player and the most expensive 4C in the league

Stone isn't a goal scorer but he is a pure gamer like Tkachuk. A Tkachuk-Bennett-Stone line would destroy the NHL.

How long do you think Carter will remain effective down the middle? Personally I think he has about two years left in him at this elite level and then a shift to Monahan's RW could keep him maximally productive for a lot longer.

All our good forwards (Gaudreau, Bennett, Tkachuk, Monahan, Ferland, Backlund) shoot left leading us to have the worst PP on the planet that has to pidgeonhole scrubs like Alex Chiasson andTroy Brouwer in to fill a RHS quota that should be filled with a good forward. I also see Bennett/Backlund/Jankowski as our best case centre depth going forward leaving Monahan redundant.

Monahan isn't redundant. He's better than all of them. Remove Monahan and every single one of those players is miscast.

You're willing to trade Monahan but Jankowski, Kylington and Andersson are off limits?

Montreal's a weird team where there's nothing really equivalent that would help both teams. Guys like Gally are too good; Patches is not age appropriate for a trade; unless Calgary was looking for futures... but that'd be dumb.

Has he disappointed? Thought he was a 60 point centerman?
The OP has an axe to grind with Monahan because he's not an advanced stats darling, the OP has even made the claim Monahan is a 3rd line center.

Says who? Detroit spent years without a single right shot forward and they ran a perfectly fine PP. The PP sucks because of strategy and execution, not because of which side people shoot on. Alex Chiasson and Troy Brouwer are on the PP because they're big dudes, and Brouwer is literally a PP specialist; if you don't put Brouwer on your PP you're almost wasting a roster spot on him.

Also, as much as I love Backs, Bennett, and hope Janks does well, none of those guys has broken 50 points in a season yet, and Backlund is the only one who has even passed half a point-per-game. That's not "best case centre depth" until at least one of them has proven the offensive ability to be a first line forward.

In fairness, calling Monahan a 3rd line centre is pretty apt in regard to his play this season.
