Prospect Info: Sean Farrell, C/LW, 124th Overall

Me too as long as it don't block us from signing someone of significance. I'd sign Lekhonen to max 2 years and Byron probably rides out his term

Hall's still my guy. He'd look good with Suzuki and Cole if Anderson falters, or KK and Toffoli/Gallagher on a 2nd offensive line. But I think he'll stay in Boston - or go elsewhere.

But someone with talent is what we need for either KK and Toffoli or Suzuki and Cole, especially a playmaker. That's why I'm excited for Sean Farrell and don't care about his size. Really excited to see if he can surprise and be a top 6 playmaker.

I think Hall struggles in our market but not sure (guess work). My guy is Tarasenko. Bigger frame and better snipping ability. I think he still got game if he gets back to 100%

I think a guy like Poehling might fit in well but probably for the 22/23 season. I'd give him some NHL games next year but mostly AHL for one more season. I like his size/skating and compete package and all he is missing is maturity. I would have him as a winger solution and someone who can play center if we need him too.

Or... move KK to Poehling's wing?

Can't wait to see this guy in NCAA. Maybe he is the version of playmaker Caufield? That would be incredible.

Gaudreau have selected in 4nd round too like Farrell... we never know.

If Caufield = DeBrincat and Farrell = Gaudreau... just wow!

The best part about these comparison it's

Farrell = 5'9, 175lbs
Gaudreau = 5'9, 165lbs

Caufield = 5'7, 162lbs
DeBrincat = 5'7, 165lbs

Sam Gagner and Sergei Kostitsyn put up huge numbers playing in the OHL - on a line with Patrick Kane.

2 of Farrell's linemates went in the first round of this year's draft. We'll find over the next few years if Farrell's big numbers were because of him or his linemates or if his linemates' big numbers were because of Farrell - or some combination of the two.

Farrell played with different players at different times and was producing regardless of who he was with. He also had great production last year, but he is a natural playmaker so any playmaker will have more points playing with better players.

This kid is fast, has slick hands and skating, and a good shot. His vision and passing are top-notch too. Exciting prospect. The best thing is that his speed and skating make up for his lack of size and compliment his game. That is really important for under-sized players. I hope he makes it.

I like him. Look forward to seeing if it can translate to the NHL level.

I just wish we had also taken Brett Berarad in that 4th round. Glad we took Farrell, not sure why we passed on Berard.

The Caufield = DeBrincat is very valid, in fact I think Caufield can be a more dynamic player than DeBrincat. But it is a way too premature for the second comparison even though I like Farrell a lot. It is not just the points, but the quality of the plays he made and the attributes - vision, passing, skating, hands and shot - make him a very promising prospect. But lets see how he does in the NCAA before making those lofty comparisons.

After watching the draft vids of Farrell and Mysak, I really felt Farrell was the more offensively dynamic of the two. It'll be interesting to see how he plays in the NCAA. Would be nice if he can develop into something for us. He might not quite be dynamic enough to be a top 6 player but he looks close enough to at least be in that conversation anyways.

He will either be top-6 or he won't make it. His skating is really nice; he's one of those players that looks effortless, but he's blazing by defenders. He has the hands, passing, and vision to go with it too. He looks like he can make plays at full speed as well - that's really the question, whether he can do that at NHL level with less time and space. I think he does make it. He is a vastly superior skater than a guy like Hudon, and his vision, passing, and shot are even better than Hudon's as well. And Hudon was/is a fringe NHLer; the only thing holding him back was his skating. I think Farrell has flown under the radar because of the route he's taken, lack of visibility. Love the pick.

keep in mind that Farrell will be 20 a few days into next season, Mysak just turned 19 a few weeks ago. Both will need to add mass and strength, hopefully they can over the years.

CH: génie à Harvard, génie sur la patinoire - TVA Sports

Says that he will sign a contract whenever the Habs think he's ready to turn pro. Did his Harvard classes online while playing at the USHL.

Have to love the work ethic and dedication. He had a really great USHL overager year, which makes him a little harder to evaluate but he performed extremely well which is good no matter how you slice it.

Very exciting late round pick that has boom potential.

one big difference... kane was the leading scorer of the three though.

in chicago they shuffled lines quite a bit and samoskevich was injured for a period of time too. the talent around him helped but farrell was the leader on that team and it wasnt really close in terms of points. eye test wise he also drove play. not saying his teammates werent good, they are. but he wasnt a passenger

Thats what I’ve heard too, very encouraging to hear. It would be great if we got ourselves a late round steal, been a long time since we’ve had a really good one pan out (Gallagher?).

I think Farrell will end up moving to wing. It's hard to be a Centre that size. Not impossible but wing seems more likely.

He was used more as a winger at the NTDP and in his draft year with Chicago. It was only this past season where he played more at centre. It will be interesting to see where Harvard uses him (and then the AHL).
