It's one game, but it looks nothing like we lost an asset or anything. Saw the same things when he was here. Pushed off the puck, not playing uptempo, slow reactions. None of these things are system related. Got bodied by Taylor Hall late on the half wall. Just nothing that says dynamic from him. Almost flew the zone while his mates were on D in one instance. Bylsma and staff have a reno project on their hands.

Seattle has zero offensive creativity whatsoever. That was a painful hockey game to watch. Kakko had one off the post but that was a very choppy game for his line and team as a whole.

Was thinking the same. Chicago wasn't much better. You can't "only" play fast. Speed for the sake of speed to the point it becomes manic (and sloppy in this case). Is this the direction analytics is pushing the game? Brings to mind Datsyuk saying that speed will kill the game. Hakstol was probably too systematic, this current approach goes to another extreme - both end up sterile. I guess Seattle are at a point where they can afford to experiment with styles but this also looks pretty stillborn.

Will Borgen?
Billy Corgan?

Coincidence...or is the lead singer of the smashing pumpkins about to make his debut with the New York Rangers tomorrow night?

If things go the way they are we'll be trying to flip Borgen at the deadline. Maybe we'll get another 3rd. We won't be dealing with Kakko's next contract either. Just the silver linings here. Maybe a couple 3rd's and a 6th. Another couple/3 million to put towards the free agent market come July. We'll be swimming in cap space. And if somehow we offload Mika or Kreider.....hoozah!!!

I do really wonder whether that was the best that Drury could get. All the reports that there was a lot of interest for him and the mention of a number of west coast teams. If there was that much interest then the Rangers should have gotten more. To be fair I don't know that much about Borgen.....sometimes a player comes in and does surprisingly well....sometimes they don't. Sometimes a player needs to move on to do better. Your team is just not a good fit for them.

But anyway judging Kakko off of one game I don't know. Maybe. But you have to ask yourself. He doesn't know his new teammates or very many of them at all. Did he even get a practice in? How different is their system? What's he going to have to learn and unlearn? He's living out of a hotel for now? He's got to pack and unpack all kinds of shit once he gets settled. Where's his girlfriend in this? He's young sure but this is his first trade and there's upheaval to deal with. I'd wait at least a couple/three weeks before I'd start in with the 'same old player' shit.

I touched on this yesterday. I'm guessing Rangers med staff are working with Kraken counterparts on a transition. He had short shifts, so I don't know if he was a little spent from the sudden travel and other demands. But he did have a practice with the team before their game against the Hawks.

Anyway, I'm not writing him off. I'll watch his second game to really make my definitive judgment. Seattle gonna know what they acquired and what needs to be fixed.

I’m sorry about what’s happening here. As a fan of a team with a history of ridiculous management, I know what it’s like.

Fans and media wanted Goody and Trouba moved but when Drury did it he became the bad guy? Its a strange narative. I don't believe it but if certain players are quiting then they quit on the fans and themselves not Drury. I don't believe it though. We were good to start the season without Goody and bad before the Trouba trade. Besides if guys hate it here then why would they also fight to stay here? Bottom line is trades are a part of the NHL especially for guys not playing well.

Fair answer but do you expect a player to show different skills in minutes 16-18 that they could not show in minutes 1-15? Will he be a faster skater? Better shooter? Better puck handler or will it just be an additional 2-3 minutes of the same skills?
He will get PP time and not have worry about being benched all the time.

I don't know if it was published, but I'm telling you as a fact

I mean if you think Lavy is the only reason then I guess the other coaches didn't exist? It just didn't work here, but it's probably moreso bc nyr never properly supported him from day one. At this point it was a lost cause and everyone needed to move on.
If something isn't in the public domain, should I assume you work for the Rangers, have been in the locker room regularly, or that you have some other conduit to the information?

I never placed blame on Laviolette, although I do blame him for punishing some players, while refusing to punish other players.

With all due respect will more PP time make make a player a better skater? A better puck handler? Have a better shot?

I think KK was benched around 1 time every 70 games or so.

Zooks was benched. CK was benched. Lafi was benched. Chytil was benched. Guys get benched occasionally. Its not the end of the world.
