Just saw this quote in Toronto Star....I'd like to know where Francis saw that offense:

“Kaapo is a young dynamic forward who brings skill and offense to our club,” Kraken GM Ron Francis said in a statement. “We’re excited to have him join us.”
Kakko hasn't been a dynamic forward with skill since the 2019 Word Championships.

I had Kakko as my twitter avatar for nearly 6 years. I held out hope Kakko could still find a way to be a part of the team but it wasn’t working. It's been nearly 6 years. Crazy.

This franchise is a disaster. Rotten from the top down. Hoping that one of Dolan's sons has his head on right and will do what's necessary when he has the power. Clean the front office out. Drury, our scouts, our coaches. Everything is rotten here. Can't draft, can't develop, can't play basic hockey. The team's culture is mediocrity. The asset management by every single GM in the history of this team has been abysmal. Loser culture through and through.

Spot on and being realistic, the organization has no incentive to change.

Rangers, Leafs. 1 combined Cup in the last 50 years. Both teams worth over 2 billion.

Two teams, in major cities, with entrenched 100-year-old fanbases. Both teams will likely malfunction along while continuing to increase in value. Simply because fans will never be able to hold either organization to any real accountability.

It's why I detached and won't put a penny into this team.

The only way this team will be forced to be run seriously is if ownership sees fans getting serious about not funding perpetual decades-long garbage.

i'm not surprised this was Kakko's value. he's really not that good.

i'm annoyed at the return though, for sure.

the only thing "dynamic" about Kakko are fans' ability to distort what he is and can be.

The im don't protests are so cute.

So you think there was a better trade and Drury actively said nah I'll take the worse package?

There may have been elsewhere a slightly better value, but there's no way kakko as a horribly mismanaged 2oa pick was being dealt to more than may 10 teams in the league. You think nyr would consider trading him anywhere nearby or in the east and want to have people talking about him like buffalos Reinhart? Kakko isn't as good but the point stands, there a reason he's on Seattle.
The only reason he is in Seattle is because Laviolette shit on him instead of whom he should have shit on.

Soon Laviolette will be gone and Kakko's floor remains a good 3rd line player.

If he gets PP time he becomes a top 6 player.

All I know is Drury & Co. NEED to stop having their dirty laundry aired out to the public because they are actively tanking the value of their own assets by letting all of this bullshit play out in the media each and every f***ing time something happens. Even aside from the player dissatisfaction, there's been so many stories that have played out in the media in the last ~5 years that make this organization look like a clown show.

Andersson, Krav, Kakko all having their complaints be very public. This is now 3 young, promising players that all had their value absolutely driven through bedrock for one reason or another that could have otherwise been moved quietly and without all this fanfare. There was whatever happened in Hartford with Drury and Krav/the Wolfpack team. Anderson being injured and all his other off-ice stuff. Kakko's entire career/play time/usage/numerous healthy scratches.

We've seen NHL players like Strome speaking up against a coach to the media. Now Kakko.

The Trouba+Goodrow nonsense, both of their post-move comments, and all the apparent NYR fallout all playing out publicly.

Everything with Ramsay and the whole "information leaking" debacle playing out relatively publicly.

This entire debacle with the core quitting on multiple coaches and now the GM, all playing out publicly. Having whatever is going on referred to by the media as a circus worthy of a documentary. Knowing that it's such an open secret is dejecting as a fan.

Either this is a team of the absolute biggest prima donnas to have ever laced up a pair of skates, or Drury & Co. are truly the biggest jerkoffs in NHL history and have no idea how to manage people.

Remember when Drury was known for running such a tight ship?

I think the bloodletting of the organization over the next few weeks and months will ultimately be a good thing. The rotten core and locker room is getting a much needed reality check.

What are you smoking? 90% of the moves the team makes are universally panned. That's why the reactions to this trade are so worthy of eye rolls.

Then you don't deal him. That's my point. He wasn't a detriment on the ice. Could he produce more? Of course. We all wanted that... it never happaned.

Doesn't mean you deal him for late rd picks a a shitty 7th d man.

Drury SHOULD have actively said "Nah"

He should be canned for this deal.

Uh that’s not true lol

This one even the normies are complaining about.

Name a recent roster transaction people liked. Even the Trouba &Goodrow trades, which were a heist for Drury and the Rangers, are still being talked about for how awful the process was and how mean they were to poor Jacob and Barclay.

Didn't want to knee jerk a post yesterday in anger after the trade. Let it sink in till this morning.

Drury lost this trade, but not as bad as he lost the Buchnevich trade.

This could have been handled a lot better as a whole from the Organization. So if Kakko got you Guentzel last year in a trade, and this year Kakko gets you a bag of potatoes that's just mismanagement of assets. Lavi is as much at fault as Drury is. He had 1 line going to start the season. They were Excellent together. They were holding the opposition at bay, while putting the puck in the back of the net. An injury to #72 stalled it somewhat, but Lavi toyed with the roster to the point that game in game out the team was rolling different lines. Hurt the clubs identity. Seemed to disrupt chemistry that was already fractured due to Media, and rumors of impending moves. The trio of Cuylle Chytil Kakko was good. On a good team this is a line could have been a difference maker. Kakko was a strong piece of it. So at the end of the day, i think they were better keeping him if the market was low due to the overall state of the team. If the line could hold the opposition to 0 goals against for an entire month, that's something you might want to build around, and not toy with their heads by sending one of the key pieces out.

Kakko's comments after the healthy scratch hurt his value due to the way the comments were perceived around the league.

Kakkos comments to Emily were bitter. Made it sound like he was almost entitled. While what he said was 100% truth, its just something that you don't do toward your own teammates. His comments to me is a direct reflection on the leadership group in the room. There is none! Vet guys need to teach younger guys how to be pros. Groom them on how to act, both on and off the ice. I don't think this room has those type of players that have that type of Character. Lets say a Cop did the wrong thing. Maybe he failed to include important info on an incident report. But his shift was ending, so he had someone else file it. The next day major error is discovered, and the cop filing the report gets an earful from his superior. He knows he wasn't in the wrong, but he also knows the Blue Wall of Silence is going to prevent him from saying, "It wasn't even my report, so and so wrote it and I just filed it" For the Rangers, this should be tight to the vest, passed on from the leadership group down to the younger players so that when he does speak to the media, his comments reflect the right message. But that's not how this went down. I think Kappo's comments speak volumes about lack of leadership passing down to the younger players.

Man, I haven't posted in like 5 years, but the overreactions here are so heavy, I couldn't resist.

Not defending Drury's overall tenure (some of his moves have been terrible), and I don't think the way Kakko has been handled, especially this season, has been smart or helpful toward his development.

But Kakko was NEVER going to last here. High picks who don't pan out into stars always get moved, usually at around this point in their careers. Ranger fans should know this well, since for years, we were a repository of other teams 1st round disappointments. Benoit Pouliot, anyone?

Kakko is a solid play-driving winger, but he has had opportunities to score under numerous coaches...and it just hasn't happened.

And the return isn't really that crazy. Yeah, would have been nice to get a 2nd for him, but no way he was fetching a 1st.

Besides, he wanted out and didn't want to be here, anyway. And I don't blame him. He was never going to get out from under the bust label.

This team has much, MUCH bigger problems than whether they got a 2nd or a 3rd for Kakko.

Also, this is all karma for giving this kid Callahan's number. :P

I've missed you

Why would all coaches have something against KK who seems like anice enough guy?

Why would all coaches nit want KK to excel? That would help them excel as well.

How are the coaches trying to hurt KK while not hurting Will? They have played together for the large majority of this season and much of last season as well.

Is it possible that KK would have been the same player under most NHL coaches as he was under Quinn, Gallant, and Lavi?

Will KK show himself to be a dominant production guy in the upcoming tournament since he will be away from Lavi?

The rangers Reddit, notoriously positive cheerleader echo chamber, has had an even more negative reaction than HFNYR.
What do they think other GMs would offer for a slower than average skater on pace for 11 goals this season after 13 goals last season?
