So mtl just traded Barron for Carrier in Nashville, anyone feel we probably could have been in on Barron but the stubborn pricks wouldn't trade with Gorton?

In an alternative universe, we trade Kakko in a package for Eichel and consquently don't resign Zibanejad, allowing us to keep Buchnevich.

Here
this is just piss poor management.

If this was the best offer out there than you hang up the phone and wait until a better one comes in.

Other than Kakko requesting a trade and blackmailing Drury with distasteful pizza pics there was no reason not to just WAIT

GOD. WHAT WAS THE RUSH

Again, disagree.

Kakko had warts, hence me saying he wasn't my fav.

He had value well beyond this deal.

IF this were the best offer. I Keep him. I don't scratch him the other night either.

As far as I Know, he's not a BIG PART of the problem. Part? I AM SURE. WHO WOULD BLAME HIM?

But if you're a GM & this is your deal, you're done IMO

This is worse than the buch trade IMO

This reeks of tampering. THATS how bad it is.

He was quite possibly scratched because of this impending trade and not performance. Less of a problem with it now that he was traded within a few days of that.

I would've kept him.

Man, I haven't posted in like 5 years, but the overreactions here are so heavy, I couldn't resist.

Not defending Drury's overall tenure (some of his moves have been terrible), and I don't think the way Kakko has been handled, especially this season, has been smart or helpful toward his development.

But Kakko was NEVER going to last here. High picks who don't pan out into stars always get moved, usually at around this point in their careers. Ranger fans should know this well, since for years, we were a repository of other teams 1st round disappointments. Benoit Pouliot, anyone?

Kakko is a solid play-driving winger, but he has had opportunities to score under numerous coaches...and it just hasn't happened.

And the return isn't really that crazy. Yeah, would have been nice to get a 2nd for him, but no way he was fetching a 1st.

Besides, he wanted out and didn't want to be here, anyway. And I don't blame him. He was never going to get out from under the bust label.

This team has much, MUCH bigger problems than whether they got a 2nd or a 3rd for Kakko.

Also, this is all karma for giving this kid Callahan's number. :P
