Your clown take was a clown take because Alexandre Carrier is a league-wide 4th or 5th D-Men, not because your opinion was different. He's A LOT like Robidas, who played on a first paring for like half a decade AFTER turning 30.

I'm not adressing the second paragraph because I don't feel concerned by that statement. I guess I liked the Lehkonen trade, because he was gone regardless and targeting a RHD that could move the puck seemed like a good idea, because Mailloux was a lot of magic beans and Reinbacher wasn't drafted yet.
I find it humorous you still take things on this forum so personally and you resort to insults and name calling. Relax , it’s a message board.

We got our Kovacevic! :D
Not quite, he's smoller. :sarcasm:

Forecaster:

One of the smaller defensemen in the NHL compensates for his lack of size with his mobility and hockey sense, enabling him to play 20-plus minutes on a regular basis. He moves the puck well and is sound defensively, though he has a tough time holding off bigger forwards. His big shot makes him a useful weapon on the power play.

Carrier has 2 more years on his contract, after the current season, at $3.75 M AAV.

I think we are going to be like what Carrier can bring. He is a hard worker and he play with heart.

Barron have tools, yes, but very inconsistent and nonchalant.

We grab a #5 defenseman in Carrier who can replace what Savard bring if we trade him in the deadline.

I'm very happy with the move!

Not big on under-sized defenders. Not big on this move to be honest.
My thought exactly. This type of D you can get in the summer as FA.
I don't understand the urgency to trade Barron plus the smart posters have pointed out we use to have Kovacevic

Management 👎

I'm pretty sure the idea of trading Kovacevic was to make room for Barron. Who did not take it.

I also don't think Kovacevic is traded if Hughes know that he'll be trading Harris a month later.

Somewhere on earth in a hospital
For people who think we are trading to early for that guy.

Barron was known to be a great offensive d-man , which he isnt at all. His defensive skills are on Alzner level and he hits like Caufield with his 6'2 body.

Better get a bigger contract for a guy that can actually play defensively who will be able to eat some Minutes from Savard because Savard is more washed than Buffalo

At 23 years old. Jeff Petry was already playing on a first pair, wich Barron is far from. I watched him closely during I was living in Calgary. True he been trade at 27 years old. But he was their best dman since a long time ago. (Even if their team was shit). He wasnt the worst player at all).
He only played like 30 games in his rookie year at 23. So he came into the league on the first pair?

I am going to miss Barron :D

WHo is Carrier? Is he moar bigger? Can he hit? Can he fight?
Can he get a puck on net?

The real goof is the Habs scout or scouts who greenlighted him.

This is incomplete without said individual(s) getting the boot.
I support that.

Sure.... Let ignore that Kovacevic is 6ft5 vs 5ft11. You can also add 700k for Kova vs 3.75m for Carrier.
Carrier is 5'11? Sigh... that sucks. Reading comments further I get a feeling that 3.75M is high price tag for Carrier brings... and doesn't bring.

I think Kent knows that was a mistake and he's been trying to replace Kova ever since. This deal doesn't do that

It says a lot about our scouts, I agree.

I was never a Barron fan and getting a vet who actually plays D is great. If this could somehow facilitate a Matheson trade or significantly lower his defensive minutes it's well worth it.
Oh man... if this the goal, to facilitate Matheson move... Give Carrier 10x10... LOL :D

Lot of people here are already tired about the GM or what? Most habs fan never had to deal with what a rebuild is. Barron sucked hard. What we get in return do not suck as hard.

I don’t know much about Carrier and I get that people don’t like Barron… but everyone seem ecstatic but this doesn’t feel like such a great trade…
So we trade a 23yo 6’2 former 1st rd pick great skater for a 28yo 5’11 former 4th rd pick making 3x more money, one of the worst +/- on the worst team in the NHL…everyone seem to be jumping for joy, I don’t see Carrier moving the needle right now if he wasn’t doing it in NAS playing with Josi or Skjei… it isn’t helping long term, but short term this might mean a extra few win which could cost us 5-6 spot at the draft… his contract term and AAV isn’t helping us gain any flexibility or edge…

I understand that Barron is to soft, hesitant and he might already be a bust but NAS is gaining cap space and selling Carrier who probably didn’t have had much value.

I’m hoping a change of scenery will help Carrier and he can be reliable and a good substitute when Savard is traded

No one can replace Le Gros Dave. Il mange les pucks! Can Carrier do that? I don't think so.

Yeah Petry was 1st pair at 23 years old. Petry took college route, Barron came from The Q. This is why he came into the league later. Watching Barron since 3 years. He didnt step up his game since the Q ans he would right now? He is barely an nhler right now. Let alone to become first pairing dman in one year sorry.
