He's definitely the archetype of player I'd like to see less of.

Maybe I'll be surprised in viewings, but it certainly feels that way.
I get it and agree. It's just making me chuckle that 90% of the posts are targeted at Borgen. I feel like there are other things to consider and discuss, beyond Borgen! But I won't get in the middle of it.

I sincerely hope the Rangers keep losing until Drury is not only fired, but made to look so bad, that another job in professional hockey at any level and in any capacity outside of custodial work will be impossible for him to attain.

My only problem with that is the babies on the Rangers want that. I don't want Drury fired because it'll mean the babies got their way.

We failed. We got caught up in the hype and ignored a fatal flaw in his game.

He had/has holes. He has the same holes he's always had and we saw those holes back in 2019.

Consensus #2 yup. We agree there. That was the belief.

His skating was and continues to be his problem. He was slow afoot in his draft year and he's that same guy today.

He was over drafted at 2 because at 2 you don't take a guy with that kind of hole in his game.

Power forwards who can't skate are round 2 guys not 2OA guys.
This is ridiculous. He was a cant miss prospect and consensus #2. There wasnt a single team in the league that would have taken anyone else there

The thing that is probably the most disheartening about this move is they went out of their way to target a guy who stinks

Like they more likely than not had other offers, and they said “yeah we’ll take the big RHD who tries hard”

This guy being an UFA also suggests that whatever fantasy people had about this team “selling” things off to go for a lower pick, it’s not happening

Man, I still vividly remember the exhilaration I felt when I learned that the Rangers won the lottery. I also vividly remember worrying here along with the rest of you that the Rangers were going to galaxy brain the pick and not take Kakko. Edge talked us down from that ledge.

Seriously. Rooting for this team sucks.

And we're basing this entirely off of the stat cards?

Drury should perform the execution on those shitbags and then be pink slipped himself before the rebuild starts. He's allowed to collect a paycheck for the tear down and then gtfo.

Not Buch 2.0, but it's bad.

This is what dealing way before the deadline looks like. Also dealing a disgruntled player.

Just looking at the advanced stats, it kind of seems like he's been unlucky this season some, not much. On ice SV% around .866 isn't great, but might have been he is part of that issue.

The most likely reality is that he is traded at the deadline for more picks. I cannot see them signing any rhd for much more than peanuts. This guy will make more than that next year.

We've wanted a defense shakeup in the worst way, well we've gotten Vaak and him now.

Could you do this with Reilly Smith and Kakko over the past 1.5 seasons as well?
I can only do 1 or 3.

Here's both.

People are gonna be surprised here, but Reilly Smith is a really good hockey player. :dunno:

Also f*** you for making me search "Smith" in the database!!

They are targeted at Borgen likely without knowing a thing about him. Just because he feels like some standing third pairing dman so they assume he's a big hulking slow guy. Yet, if you go look up his NHL EDGE stats he was 93rd percentile among dmen in skating speed so he's actually a fast skating dman with size but I bet nobody commenting about him even knows that (that's not to say he's good or anything, we'll see).

I mean. Drury could have also done... nothing. Like what the f***?

This wasn't a needed move. It wasn't a cap dump. A rental for a run. A retool. It was literally absof***inglutely useless.

That’s probably true lol, I said it in the main boards I was expecting a 2nd+small piece, I guess this isn’t too far off in value honestly. Borgen is just a placeholder, and perhaps they flip him at the TD for another 3rd or 4th.
A 3rd from Seattle probably ends up within 20 picks of a 2nd from a contender. Unless of course Kakko carries them to glory.

unbelievable revisionist history. he was the consensus #2 pick and Dach, who had a small subset of people wanting him at 2, has also been a major disappointment
