On EV he has more primary assists /60 than Nikita Kucherov, so it's not like the production hasn't been good relative to his usage.

Unfortunately Seattle may have taken him more because of the low price than his qualities.

On the other han he less primary assists/60 than Justin Kirkland so maybe that stat isn't all that valuable.

Kakko is just a middling 3rd liner at best, at this point. Seattle is banking on the draft potential he had and isn not giving up much if he doesn't pan out. I don't get why anyone is amazed at this trade tbh.

I can see what Drury was thinking here. Moved out Trouba for next to nothing...Borgen kind of backfills that for a lot cheaper. Also moved out a malcontent mouthing off in the media in the process.


But man, the value on this series of transactions is bad. Two good players in the right role, shipped out for one not very good player and some beans.

But something is clearly rotten in the state of Denmark...errr...New York. All three teams clearly feeling the heat and pressure to do...something.

Why do so many teams think former players will make good GM and execs? Coaches sure, they know the details of the game and lived that life from the other side for years. But anything above that should be someone with education and training. Like actors most athletes spend less time in school then Greta Thunberg and have no idea about the real world beyond their bubble.

Shannahan, Yzerman, Drury is a good trifecta of this right now.

Its rare for a fresh drafted player to have huge success right out of the gate. Yes players do have to be developed to adjust their game to play at a higher level especially at the NHL level. Not even Jack Hughes who went 1OA that same draft didn't play great right away.

Dude, we're like 3 years past the point of saying it takes time. This guy is not good. He uses a stick that's way too small for him and it visibly effects his ability to protect the puck. Below average shot. Not physical.
