Waived: [SEA] G Philipp Grubauer waived by the Kraken

Can't wait to see Grubauer vs Jarry in the AHL's premier "overpaid trash goalie" competition.

Also this means nothing, but I once met him and a few other Kraken players at a bar in Kirkland. He's 100% not 6'1", he's like 5'10".
So many players have their weight jacked up by 20+ lbs, and their hight 1-2 inches. It's pretty impressive. Probably why scouts make a big deal about some smaller players, especially when they're smaller than listed.

Atleast guys like him got a monster contract that set them for life and allow to set future generations to be financially ccomfortable

fall from grace

Kraken simply had to make this move. I still believe there is a good goaler there to be a mid-starting #1, but he has been a complete mess this season and it has entirely been his fault.

Damn look what Anaheim did lol
Ducks did nothing, he's been this bad for the entire season against any team he's played against.

He got the contract after two good years with the Aves and then BOOM

3 good years, and he also had 4 good years as a backup in Washington before that. It wasn’t like it was a short stretch that got him this contract. He’d literally never had a sub .915 SV% season in his career before going to Seattle

This is just one of quite a few contracts that fall in that 4-6yrs x $5-6m per year for an iffy not entirely proven goalies out there. Legit there could arguably be 5+ of these guys in the AHL

I think he does make a comeback, but not with the Kraken. In fact I see him being a backup on a cheap contract if this leads to mutual termination where he redeems himself.

This is going to make another rule of NMC and NTC in the future considering the Blues and Rangers found a loophole for NTC which they can get claimed off waivers if so.

No way he's agreeing to a mutual termination. He'll take the buyout then sign a league minimum deal.

He chased the money, which is his right, but do wonder if he stayed an Avs, would it have worked out differently for him? Not blaming Seattle at all, since Daccord has been amazing, so things do work. Just wondering if the change of teams affected him more than he thought it would
