Not one person mentioned Grebenkin on this board before today.

What I'm saying here is take all of these opinions on him with a salt mine and maybe make a mental note who's an instant expert.
Proud member of my HF mock draft team. Not claiming I'm an expert but I've kept tabs on his stats since then and did catch some of his games with the Leafs. Appleyard being a fan makes me optimistic on him as well. 🤷‍♂️

You pay attention to hockey prospects and post about them constantly, so this makes total sense. Of course you could have known about him before today.

The point was just that it always bothers me how opinions materialize out of nowhere. I read a couple of things about him too. I sure as hell don't have a take worth sharing.

Look, I can tell you for a fact that he is a hockey player that plays with a stick on ice.

Just hope they dont rush Grebenkin to NHL...

he has more upside than just a bottom sixer if things go perfectly as he showed in KHL, and for Marlies was only playing 15 mins a night and PP2 (4/21 points only on PP)...

Think ideally he needs more time to learn how to use skillset on smaller ice with less space.

Then maybe, just maybe you can squeeze a 50 point playmaking winger out of him...

I would genuinely say right now he is alongside Barkey in that 5-6 prospect group for Flyers. One of the few fwds in org who might have top six upside.

Most likely ofc just ends up a bottom six winger... but yeh, in a vacuum a prospect of his level alone is probably worth a 2nd round pick.

Laughton getting a 1st (even if in 2027) and a legit prospect... I would have taken it and ran a week ago. But yeh, prices have been crazy.

Im good with this deal. The 2027 pick doesnt bother me because I like having assets to potentially moveifthe right trade comes up. After july, most of their draft assets will be gone so its nice having more down the road.

I am so over the "top 10 protected" shit though. Really wish you werent allowed to do that.

It’s not like Briere will survive as gm until these picks are made anyway

Greb footspeed will be a bigger problem on the small ice and pace of nhl game. I wouldn't expect him to be more than a bottom 6 guy that players more than 200 career NHL games.

A dart throw.

So underwhelmed

The distance between us getting Toronto’s first and when Laughton should have been traded is the same.
I’m glad he’s finally been moved but that’s insane.

Nadeau and Musty and Cowan will all be in the NHL by 2025 or 2026. That’s my basis of comparison. And the Flyers pick won’t convey until 2027. It’s not like the value isn’t okay on paper. But the constant pushing back of years like time isn’t finite drives me nuts. This isn’t an indefinite rebuild. They publicly say the next 18 months are the end of the rebuild and they will start buying, while epically chunking the picks they make and kicking the can with the ones they’ve yet to make. It is a theme.
