Oh he definitely helped define it.

I mean adding 2 picks to retain 50% on Laughton and get a 1st 2 years from now that could possibly be 3 years from now seems like a lot Briere had to add to get this deal done, but I'd rather they make this deal than keep Laughton so I guess that's a win.

Someone tell me about Grebyonkin. What's his upside and likelihood of hitting it we think?

Honestly? Bottom 6 forward 3rd liner at best but he has onw gear and it's GO, that kids was liken a dog on a bone in the games he played in Toronto, he hit everything that moved and drive hard to the net every chance he got.

I don't like losing him because he's almost NHL ready now,

You guys are going to LOVE him>

I suspect that most of you probably don't like the trade at first glance because the pick is top 10 protected but if that's the case that will change.

Torts will LOVE him.

my only question is his long term health due to his style of play.

Yeah, sure sounds like someone the authentics and management will love.

Great

Its one of those trades where all the hullabaloo around it, and the seller's market - you'd think the return would have been a smidge better. But i'm happy its over with, it wasn't a terrible return and we should be a bit worse the rest of the year, which is nice

I loved Grebenkin so much - he won't disappoint. Tbh as a leafs Fan I wasn't too thrilled with this one weird reading the sentiment here.

You guys will absolutely love this kid.

Is he a NHLer on the Flyers?

The board here overall is pretty sarcastic and negative anyway, let alone the decades of being mislead and losing.

Maybe not this year, but he will be a player.

I project him as like a Knies-lite.

He's really physical, a pain to play against, awkward stride but fast, really slick hands. Great character as well. Guy used to walk out of Scotiabank's main entrance after each game.

What's Laughton like - we've all been pretty negative on the leafs board about this one. Not really sure what kind of player we're getting out of Laughton.

He’s pretty solid. I think he’s more streaky than he’s known for. He can likely put up at least 0.5 ppg on the leafs. Good PKer that can get short handed points. He and TK worked very well killing penalties together and scored a lot. He is a character guy - not sure how that translates, but he’s one of those guys. I guess it can only help.

I don’t think any of us thought he was actually worth a 1st. It looks like he was worth right around it, maybe less.

idk a good bottom sixer lol. can "play center". wont get you much of anything, but wont lose you much either. might surprise some games randomly. half of his league value seems to come from being a locker room guy idk. Hard not to be cynical with how much the FO made him a mascot player. He's fine. He gets that hockey.

I initially thought Grebenkin was a throw in. But does it not seem like he has late 1st round value? He seems like a young fun middle 6 level talent after going through some posts and highlights.

Very interested to see him play. Hopefully the Flyers call him up asap.

I’m not an analytical guy but people here have stated that he has the worst defensive metrics of any center on flyers. Throughout his entire career he has struggled at center when playing above fourth line. Needs to move to wing if moving up.

Is a good PKer though. He definitely isn’t going to move the needle on a team loaded up to make a run at the Cup.

He is a good guy and a nice veteran pickup but the Flyers have completely inflated value to the team through PR moves

i think @Appleyard said he could use some time to marinate in the AHl...so he'll probably dress next week lol

Honestly, I would be pissed if my GM gave up a 1st for him.

On a playoff team, he's a 4th liner, but he can move into a middle-6 role short term. Can play center, but is better suited at LW. Solid on the PK. Seems to be good in the locker room as well.
