Says he has retracted his list of teams he'd approve a trade to. Will end his career in Columbus.

"I put it to rest with Jarmo," Hartnell said. "I said I'm coming back and I'm not having this over my head during training camp and the first month of the season. I have a no-move for a reason, and it's there for me now.
"(Kekalainen) had the opportunity and trade me and things didn't work out. For myself ... mentally it's hard waking up every morning wondering if you're going to get the call: 'Hey, this team is interested.' It was kind of driving me crazy, so I talked with my agents and we talked. I really love Columbus. I love the guys. I think we can be a great group, and I feel like I can contribute. Why would I mess with my mind? I know what I can do for this team. I plan on being a Blue Jacket for the rest of my career."
Kekalainen, who is in Toronto for the World Cup of Hockey as assistant general manager of Team Finland, confirmed Hartnell's retraction.

As long as Columbus doesn't have to protect Clarkson then they're fine. The tier of forwards goes:

Jenner
Saad
------
Wennberg
Atkinson
Dubinsky (NMC)
Foligno (NMC)
Hartnell (NMC)
-------
Sizeable Gap
-------
William Karlsson
Matt Calvert

Good for him. It's time that teams learn lessons regarding no-move clauses. I like Hartnell and I'm glad he's going to stay in Columbus. He's a team guy and the Jackets can use some veteran leadership. I hope things turn around soon. There's a great fan base waiting for a great team to develop.

Yes, but with Clarkson out injured they won't have to protect him so they should be alright now.

I mean, he's still playing at a high level and seems to really like Columbus. Good for him for wanting to stay.

That being said, I can see him accepting a trade to Nashville since he's played there before and they're Cup contenders.

I wouldn't mind Seeing him back in Philly since he's one of my favorite Flyers in my time. The problem with hi coming back is there isn't a spot for him unless he was traded for someone like Matt Read. At the same time if Konecny makes the team I don't see a spot for read either

did the list of teams he approved last year ever surface?
I know Nashville was one because there was a deal that almost went through but other then that I don't think a list ever popped up.

And as far as his statement I'm extremely happy. I was ok with moving him to male.space for other guys but when it came down to it I never actually wanted him to go. Now we can finally lay to rest all the garbage people spewed about him and being a cap dump as they tried to make trade offers for him.

If Canada was a more advanced ice hockey culture Scott Hartnell would be in the World Cup, dominating the play. Guess the NHL play-offs will have to do.

I thought that Montreal could be in on him for a relatively cheap second line winger. Don't blame him though.

What else would he say?

Just because he made the public statement, doesn't mean in reality he would welcome a trade to some teams....and accept them.

"I will end my career in Columbus." Almost sounds like he should be on a suicide watch.
