I assume Arniel has learned a lot in the last 10 years but he was absolutely awful with the Jackets.

Thought it was about time to resurrect this thread.

It seems to me I remember hearing how Scotty Arniel would never be a HC again after he was canned by CBJ.

All he has done is coach his team to an all time NHL record start through 15 games.

Obviously, this can't last forever but we have been getting the benefit of great coaching so far.

Some guys do come back from the dead. A few names that jump out right away....

Rick bowness in Dallas after not having a head gig since the early 90s.

Mike Sullivan was also out of the head coaching picture for several years before this Pittsburgh gig if I recall correctly ml.

Bruce Cassidy was a cast off since the early 2000s before landing in Boston not too long ago.

I think it just goes to show that coaches may not be as dumb as their past records suggest and probably get too much credit when the records looks great too.

I certainly believe that "right place, right time" has alot to do with a coach's success.

there was a time when it felt like a huge loss when he was hired away from our farm team (canucks fan here). going into the year we ran away with the presidents trophy and made the finals, there were fans legitimately suggesting we fire vigneault and bring him up to be our head coach.
