Calgary had a decent team and seemed to be on the right track, their collapse is/was weird.
He's one of the biggest reasons for their rebuild. Him and Treliving. Huberdeau can go cry in his pile of cash, he made his own bed when he chose Calgary.

Huby could have waited to enter the open market and hand pick his next team, he chose to sign that ridiculous contract in Calgary instead and is now stuck in no man's land.
True.
OTOH, if he didn’t sign it, he would have lost tens of millions given his performance in CGY (unless they flipped him during the summer and things went much better elsewhere). Like, what would you pay him after his regression, and for how long? And there's no guarantee his new team would be better - sometimes things fall off a cliff incredibly fast.
It's still shocking how much he has regressed since the trade. Like, we knew he was overrated and the 100+ point season was a fluke, but even so, you'd have expected him to be a .ppg player for a solid part of his contract - and he can't even hit 60. It's wild.

When someone offers life-changing money that can persist for generations, and all you have to do is agree to work for a poorly managed organization for eight years, you take the bag.

Huberdeau made the correct choice.
Someone can easily disagree with you. He already had made life changing money. But I don't care one way or the other because that's not the point. The point is he made the choice and shouldn't be crying about it.

I said this at the time, Boston Pizza man actually made a good trade for the Flames, the issue is, the Panthers were better than the Flames and Hubs and Weegar couldn't get it done, why would you commit to them? If he traded both at the TDL in 2022 he could have Calgary already nearing the end of their rebuild lol.

Should not let lame duck GM's make huge signings.

We lucked out with Bob to be honest. Zito salvaged that

Boston pizza man is an idiot and only has a job because of his dad. Can't really give him much credit for getting good assets trading the most desirable player available for trade in ages... Especially since said player was only available because the Flames dicked him around.
