So they should say screw it to offsides no matter how close it is? I mean why follow the rules of the game if it’s “close”

The linesmen do a good enough job. How many obviously hugely blown offside calls can you name in all of history? (For most everyone, there was one in 1980 and one in 2013 and then nothing.) We should all be so lucky has to have referees that were so accurate.

There's no reason to scrape anyone's goals off the board via video review at the blue line. Even if it's against my team, that's a goal.

Depends on how you view him.

Do you see him as a consistent 40+ goal guy going forward? Because that's extremely unlikely.
Good player, but certainly nowhere near what he did this season.
That's probably true. This season is the exception, not the rule.

Still, he'd developed into a heck of a player - considering many said he was a bust 6 years ago.

So we all agree that if Florida loses this Paul Maurice is a massive fraud who gets by on vibes alone right?
Yes. He is a dirty ass coach. His style is 70's Broad Street Bully crap.

How often is Maurices teams among leaders or had the most penalties? Almost every year. It is his style.

Now it's, funny, I just bought a new soundbar and was able to map the bar audio to the dimensions of my room and my seating location through my phone. With that kind of technology how can we not set it up where the blue lines are mapped out and can sense instantaneously when the play is offiside or not. Puck glows green when it's onside and red when it's offside. Puck is set off when it is cleared.

What aboot when the puck is in the goalie's glove and the goalie's glove is in the net but you can't see the puck so they call it no goal.
I think all close plays should be reviewable..

I think you missed the point I was going for that it is absurd to decide barely offsides is fine…

McDavid really is god. Name any other player in the NHL you could swap him out for that would carry this team (especially the coach and goalie) this far.

Honestly I would fire Maurice after this series.

He's shown he can't get it done in the Finals.

His heavy forecheck system has completely disappeared both times.

This is fascinating. I wanted to see what Maurice would do with a legitimate good team. Turns out that he can only coach as well as his players can play. He can't seem to get them to play up to the Oilers level right now. Oilers are just winning everything right now.

Hate the argument that the crease rule was "stupid" so there should be no controversy. I agree it was dumb...BUT IT WAS A RULE AT THE TIME.

And lots of goals were taken off the board during the regular season for exactly the same thing that Hull did.

Ever since that happened I've watched way too many fans, as well the NHL front office, try to "magic bullet" their justification for something that was a goal that comes back during the regular season.

Again — the rule was changed in March. A whole month of the regular season was played under the rule that made the Hull goal legal.

Just because people didn’t know the rule and were confused, doesn’t change what the rule was.

Eklblad was clearly interfered and tripped on the 1st goal and then that shit guesswork review, refs handing it to Edmonton tonight.

Series management at its best! The Oilers did not need that help.
