If mcdavid is gonna play 26 minutes a night, why waste 6 of those minutes on the penalty kill when he is less likely to get scoring opportunities when they have other players plenty good at defense and penalty killing.

The average shorthanded TOI for a number one penalty killer is around 2.30 a game. No one kills 6 minutes of penalties in a game.
