Girardi is just stupid. That play is all on him. Regardless of a broken stick or not, he has to realize the chances on that play that IF something does go wrong, its completely high-risk because he knows Brown is there and would have a complete open breakaway. He needs to go to the boards with it.

Its situational awareness.

Girardi suffers from a severe deficiency of that.
