Don't understand the negativity, he clearly has something left in the tank. 30 points in 48 games is not meaningless. Don't see why we shouldn't bring him back even if it is just short term...

Why hasn't another NHL team signed Prospal? JD and Jarmo decided not to bring him back. Its typical Sather. He has been making these same moves for 13 years.

Yes, it's a band aid.

Half our top-6 is injured. We need a ****ing band aid.

Hagelin will be back on Tuesday. Callahan will be back two weeks from this coming Wednesday. What kind of shape is Vinny in? No camp. He is not signing today and playing on Monday. Stepan missed camp and he is playing the worst hockey of his career.

So despite the fact that there's not one first hand account of Sather "reaching out " to Prospal, Brooks hides a innocent little comment in his article that basically says he's making this up: "There is no indication the GM is prepared to offer Prospal a contract".

Why did no NHL team sign Stralman? He must be damaged goods if Saint Lou let him go!

Gomez has more goals this season than 14 Rangers forwards.

For those of you counting at home, 12 forwards play every game. The Rangers could ice a full forward lineup, 8 games into the season, of forwards who have yet to score AND have two healthy scratches left over!

Hooray!

Is this really necessary!

You should give it at least two or three thousand games before criticizing.....

this ship has sailed. if this is the type of players that we're interested in still this org is even more delusional that i suspected...

yea no pt to this, the obvious is to get Hagelin, Callahan , Nash back healthy the weed out the Boyle , Pyatt, Pouiott, Moore, UFA bodies. Zuccarello is RFA but likely is a goner..........they can get picks and maybe a useful body for this yr/next

Uncle Glen signed Stralman. Staal was out with the concussion and the Rangers were scrambling trying to find a defenseman. Sather even reached to Paul Mara before signing Stralman. What is Stralman exactly?

I think most people are poking fun at Sather because it's a typical, short-sighted desperation move. Best case scenario, Prospal plays well and pushes some of the deadweight down in the lineup. That's fine but it doesn't address the real problems on this team, and it doesn't do anything for this team in the long run.

It doesn't take a genius to see that this a flawed roster even if everyone was healthy. Yes, Nash, Cally, and Hags are out - that doesn't excuse the other players on this team who are healthy that are utterly incapable of scoring goals. At some point, Sather will have to start thinking long-term about how he can fix the deep-rooted roster issues.

To get prospal back would be similarto why we got Biron. Prospal will be the biron of our forwards, brings passion back to the game and also plays decent, but he is getting pretty old and there are probably better offensive options out there. However in terms of heart and soul prospal would be number one

That feeling you get when you realize a 38 year old who can't find work might be a positive addition to the team.

The worst part about him reaching out to Prospal is it indicates he's trying to salvage something. Glen don't try save it, let it burn. This teams success in the past and I use that term lightly was an illusion. Propped up by Hank and a system in which we turtled 90% of the time. Give Torts credit for making lemonade. AV is learning the same thing, he doesn't have the horses he needs to play a more up tempo game.

I'm on board. He'll put up some points and at least play with passion. Can take the spot of Pyatt/Pouliot/Zuc. I actually like the latter two but clearly it's not working out right now.

Trade for Jagr, sign Straka and Nylander.

It's the only thing that can save this team now.

Seriously though, what the hell? I really like Vinny P, but is this really necessary?

Word.

So many people hating on this idea. It will clearly be an upgrade over what we have.

People want something to be done then they ***** when they hear something might happen.

Both sides of the argument for Vinny have been made. I can't help but think he would help the current train wreck for the reasons stated but if all he does is help move you down the draft list then what has been gained? Similar arguments the Jackets fans had the past two years. So far it doesn't look like we miss him a whole bunch but if he were playing I'm sure he would have produced.

He is probably a 40 pt guy but he is slow and appeared to be tiring out towards the end of last year's shortened season. But he is a good room guy and could possibly help from that point.

He's not the end all solution but for a one year deal at 2 mill or so is probably worth a shot.

He was slow, done, tiring out 2 years ago (i thought the same thing) yet he put up 2 good seasons after that.

With the injuries up front, its a move that might be smart.

Or we could keep playing Miller and Fast and watch them do nothing to warrant being with the big club other than there being no other options.

But they are young and home grown so they could do everything wrong and some people will still sing their praises.

This really isn't bad.

Sather "reached out" to Prospal. The guy played well the last couple years, he provides the emotion this team seems to lack in a big way, he'd be a bottom 6 guy, maybe taking the spot of someone like Fast who is only up because of injuries, or Pouliot, who has been garbage - and Sather didn't even sign him. Yet people are saying it's stupid, it's a band-aid, etc etc etc.

This board is absolutely unbearable right now. Most people disagree with Sather and dislike everything he has ever done. Point taken. Let's make a thread for Sather discussion or something and at least contain the repetitive stuff to one spot. I don't disagree with it frankly, but the entire board is the same people whining about the same things in every thread right now and it's awful.
