I'm not sure what you guys are on about here but the guy had 55 points in 2011-12 and 30 points in 48 games last year, leading the Jackets, who are not great offensively by any stretch. He's also a great locker room guy and a good leader and he works hard. In my opinion that's monumentally better than Pyatt or Pouliot, so why the hell not sign him to a no risk 1yr contract?

Say what you want about Vinnie, but boy would that mother****er infuse some heart and passion into this lineup.

Every goal that dude, or a teammate scores while he is on the ice is like a game 7 SCF OT winner.

But yeah, some ships have sailed.

EDIT - The other day, maybe yesterday? Avery tweeted something about asking someone to find his skates. That tweet has since been deleted :sarcasm:

Hey man, logic and reason is not welcomed here. Last warning.

Has Sather contacted Chris Drury? Too bad Florida scooped up Scotty Gomez. :sarcasm:

Gomez has more goals this season than 14 Rangers forwards.

For those of you counting at home, 12 forwards play every game. The Rangers could ice a full forward lineup, 8 games into the season, of forwards who have yet to score AND have two healthy scratches left over!

Hooray!

Prospal will be a great fit in here. Having most recently played with the Blue Jackets, he will definitely be on board with the losing culture that Arniel and Co. has brought over.

I don't see anything wrong with this if we were close to .500 and needed an extra boost. At this point we need a helluva lot more than VP but I guess it's a start? :dunno:

I don't know how anyone can possibly have a problem with this move. There are basically three scenarios here:

1--Prospal sparks the team and they start playing up to their talent level.

2--Prospal doesn't spark the team, but puts up decent numbers, thus becoming another piece that can be spun off for a future asset at the trade deadline.

3--Prospal doesn't spark the team, and sucks while he's here, which means we've lost...what exactly? Oh yeah, not a damn thing.

Yeah, why not, lol. A bandaid is a bandaid, but better Prospal than...whoever else, i.e. Hamrlik. Stick him on a line with Muscular Beaver.

My thoughts exactly.

4 - Prospal plays ok, helps us to a few wins and we end up picking 13th instead of 8th (but it's ok because we get a random 3rd rounder for him at the deadline)

5 - Prospal takes the playing time (15 min +) of someone like Kreider who is actually a potential part of the future with the club

There's just no point to signing VP, it's a nothing move that reeks of "rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic"; so i expect Slats to have it done within the next week

i'm not looking at trying to salvage this season, but trading players that don't fit into AV's system. If this is a lost season, fine, and least develop youth and bring in players that fit.

I don't want to see Pyatt, Pouliout, and others in the lineup that doesn't belong here...

This entire team hasn't fit AV's system in the slightest bit so far, regardless of being without Callahan and Nash. Yes, they are very important players to the team, but the entire rest of the team shouldn't look like they haven't played above beer leagues. They haven't even looked like they want to play hockey to begin with. Prospal provided much needed personality and visible effort to an otherwise bland Rangers team when he was here and while I wouldn't really be down for a retread, that's the type of player we need to look at bringing in.

1) This is a guy that can still play, fill in for top 6 in a pinch or add some scoring to 3rd line
2) Hopefull this pushes Pouliot and Pyatt down
3)We need to up our former CBJ quota
4) To those who have sarcastically mentioned Avery, he did go on Twitter last night asking for a hero to find his skates. Brandon Prust responded with the hashtag #averycomeback

If we are looking to sign a guy I would rather take a chance with Morrow if he hasn't signed with anyone yet.
