Very few bands can pull off an authentic live performance these days. The best I ever witnessed live were Metallica, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Stone Temple Pilots and Tea Party.

Does she have a show next Saturday as well? The Leafs won't play on next Saturday for some reasons.
Next Thursday Friday Saturday as well.
Sold out the Dome for 6 nights and easily could have sold more.

My two cents on Taylor Swift. She is great and a major star. But the audacity to give her a motorcade from Pearson to the Rogers Centre in a city that is already congested as is with traffic hell is beyond my comprehension.

Is she the Pope? She can't sit in a tinted SUV in traffic? They had to close off the one major artery going into downtown Toronto for her?

I get that she has tons of (crazy) fans who are capable of tracking her jet and her whereabouts. But you gotta work around that.

I saw at least 6 SUVs and 4 cops on Harleys.

They do that all the time for politicians celebrities etc. Personally I don’t see the issue, maybe disrupted traffic for a minute.
If she came up Spadina off the Gardiner for example and someone recognized her that would cause absolute chaos on the streets.

I remember reading that Christina Aguilar has it in her rider that she gets a police escort from the airport. I just hope its the promoter that pays for that and not the taxpayers.

Would be nice to get some points out of this one, but Edmonton is a good team and we're missing some good forward pieces. The loss of Matthews/Patches makes the absence of Jarnkrok even more evident, pretty much 3 top 9 forwards out for us

We will need Stolarz and special teams to carry us to a win

Or a full committed defensive effort to block out McJesus and Drycycle. Easier said than done though.

Everything about Swift is manufactured. She is an industry plant. Completely astroturfed.

AC/DC

Angus Young is timeless.

The opening guitar to Dirty Deeds, blaring live and in concert, is always breathtaking.

Metallica and AC/DC are easily the best concerts I’ve ever been to.

Biggest disappointment was The Rolling Stones. Great music, and Mick is a good showman, but I left feeling like it came in under what I expected.

I get what you are saying but Toronto traffic is screwed from the distracted and idiotic drivers on the highway who can’t slow down, lack common sense and no driving etiquette.

Every hour of every day, the 401 is littered with accidents that have nothing to do with inclement weather and all based on people driving while on their phones and being selfish SOBs.

It's definitely gotten worse over the years.

Looking back decades, small venue bands that could take requests and perform live music and it be respectable. Having tried my hand at music, but going to high school and working 30-35 hours a week in a grocery store didn't encourage me to practice bass, other than be good enough on tuba to be in a military band (volunteer - not their professional band).

Music is perhaps the only "art" that I feel any emotional attachment to. Been to the national gallery in London, England and thought "okay so they got paintings", big deal. One Stratford performance in the early 80's left me and the audience speechless for a long pregnant pause before applause and cheering. But other than that Music is the thing.

Have to ask, has to era of the lead guitarist passed?

=================================================

I frequently see the Oilers give up the lead late in games.

Of course, they then win on cheat mode in overtime.

Leafs probably have better goaltending.
Defense, perhaps better depth on Leafs, but not sure better talent?

Has it got better anywhere in Canada?

My neighbours just sold their bikes, and they're kids in their 20's, saying it is just too dangerous on the roads today. I rode 50 years ago on the 401, and I had no concerns. More concerned on side highways where non-city folk didn't take to "punks on bikes" ... Grand Bend traffic was fine as they had lots of experience with non-residents traveling thei highways.

So where is Domi playing tonight?
Is he knocking Robertson down to the 3rd. line?

The best concerts I've ever been to are (in no particular order):

Muse (Matt Bellamy is the closest thing to a 'rock star' that's been produced in the last 20).

Tool (it's frickin' Tool).

Radiohead (Beautiful show, great weather).

Pearl Jam (Played all the hits).

Incubus (seen thrice, always a good out).

I've seen Oasis twice and once they were excellent and the other they were a letdown.

Taylor Swift isn't my type of music, but I can tell she's talented and can see why people like her.

No hate on my end, but I get what you mean. I have 12 and 10 year old sons so I don't have to deal with it at home but her popularity is over the top for whatever reason.
I think part of it is there's nobody else. Not knocking her at all, but unless you're into metal, new country, or rap, or watching geriatric 60s, 70, and 80s reunion concerts, is there much good out there?

Sum41 amps blew out in Dallas a few weeks ago in the middle of the opener. 10 min delay then they got going again. Proof they were playing for real ! Was a good show.

Most entertaining: AC/DC, 1987
Meant the most to me (huge fan since I was about 12): Iron Maiden, (mid to late 90s)
Best concert that I ever saw and greatest experience ever: Page Plant, 1998
Easily the most talented person I ever saw live: Elton John (early 2000s)

Other than that? I've seen lots of great bands, but those are the standouts.

Not a huge fan of AC/DC because frankly they're cock rock, but they did blow the roof off at SARSstock, good show. Sadly, I was born past the days when I could have seen Zeppelin, Floyd or the non-geriatric version of the Stones. Those shows I listed all happened between 2006 and 2015.

I hope the boys play them hard, and lack of depth scoring or not, their depth is far superior to the Oilers. McDavid tilts the ice for sure when he's on and Drai can, but he can also be a PP merchant passenger.

Stay out of the box, just try to contain McDrai and get a good performance from whoever is in the nets and they've got this.

Or more motivation to trade him for a NHL player.

If Domi is in, where do you play him?

McMann and Knies bring something the top 2 lines need.

Playing him(Robertson) does let other teams see him skate.

He’s just a warm body at this point. But we don’t need to worry about losing him or moving him till the other forwards get healthier so no rush.

I saw a Tom Petty concert in 2016 and the same thing happened. Only they kept on singing and it was sounding pretty good until Tom interrupts a really sweet line and asks Did we lose an amp or did Ronnie f*** off again? The whole arena cracked up. Later on they started up a song and blew the opening verse and they were laughing on stage insstead of singing. They were for real, no lipsucking there at all.
