Very few bands can pull off an authentic live performance these days. The best I ever witnessed live were Metallica, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Stone Temple Pilots and Tea Party.
Looking back decades, small venue bands that could take requests and perform live music and it be respectable. Having tried my hand at music, but going to high school and working 30-35 hours a week in a grocery store didn't encourage me to practice bass, other than be good enough on tuba to be in a military band (volunteer - not their professional band).
Music is perhaps the only "art" that I feel any emotional attachment to. Been to the national gallery in London, England and thought "okay so they got paintings", big deal. One Stratford performance in the early 80's left me and the audience speechless for a long pregnant pause before applause and cheering. But other than that Music is the thing.
Have to ask, has to era of the lead guitarist passed?

I frequently see the Oilers give up the lead late in games.
Of course, they then win on cheat mode in overtime.
Leafs probably have better goaltending.
Defense, perhaps better depth on Leafs, but not sure better talent?
McDavid+Draisaitl > Tavares+marner
