Sarnia Sting 2024 25 Season Thread Part Iii

I just find it weird how they bring all these kids to camp and put them on the ice from 9-4 playing 30minute games then send them home, not a lot of time to give all these kids a good look. Like they have a day for orientation and the team going over expectations etc. and a day of short games. Why don’t they make it a full weekend, have a day for meeting the coaches and staff and going over things, a day of practises and then a day for games then send the kids home Saturday night /Sunday morning.
Yah it's to bad Letang does it differently than Hatcher did. With Hatcher they did multiple games Friday and Saturday. Got to see lots of them.

But counter point is they've already scouted these kids a ton. An extra hour or two of June scrimmages won't change a lot.

Some of them have already been here working out, skating so it might've been a full week of doing stuff if they wanted too.

Also don't get why the scrimmages are on the 2nd rink in PASA. Seems unnecessary.

I heard the ice is out on rink 1

Actually pretty excited to see the scrimmages Friday.

Lammens, Walos, Kamzik, Sinclair, Sewell, Grovestine, Osipenko, Romain, Jaworski, Gullstrand & Kim all guys I really wanna see.

See what kind of step Simpson, Gaughan, Chamberlain have taken too.

I agree that is dumb... playing 4/5 games in one day is stupid and no one likes doing it... It reminds me of when I use to try out for jr.B/C teams... showing up at 8 am and playing 4 games in a day putting on wet equipment not even having enough time to eat. By the 3rd game ur just counting down the minutes.... the play is sloppy and everyone is tired....Bizarre for an O team.... it should be 2 games for 2 days or something. Have the kids stay the night and come out on fresh legs. make them feel welcome. Do like a film room study - for all I know they are doing that but I doubt it.

Boulton finding a way to get suspended in the MEMORIAL CUP for a WARMUP violation is genuinely impressive stuff.
I've grown to not dislike London as much as I once did. Respect them more than I once did

But the whole Boulton stuff the last 2 years has been an utter joke/embarrassment. Sawyer now Ryder aren't OHL players. They weren't even good enough players for the league they were in at 14/15/16.

They legitimately play them to go out & hurt people. Maybe Dale doesn't tell them to do that, but Ryder is lucky to play 3 shifts a game and he spends those shifts head hunting, lining guys up etc. It's nonsense & so unnecessary.

Seca said Palazeese left to be closed to home. Sarnia wanted to keep him & are bummed he left.

They want more experience at trainer/equipment manager. He referenced high-performance training and nutrition program like what Gary Roberts does (Brantford recently brought him in) and that they wanna go that route.

He also said they might bring in another assistant coach .. key word another.. not new... Why won't they let go Jeffries? Seriously? We don't need 3 assistants & 4 coaches on the bench. Good grief.

“This year, we felt we underperformed,” Seca said. “We were quite comfortable with ’23-24, but ’24-25, we had a little higher expectations. Maybe we didn’t miss by much, but still that miss … is cause for review.”

Where was this during and right after the season?? When they were telling us it's all going according to plan. And why isn't the main issue (coaching) being held accountable but trainers, equipment managers, scouts are???

Full on stupidity man.

Letting the equipment guy go ? Did he not sharpen the skates correctly , dry the gloves thoroughly? The new assistant coach better be a strength and conditioning coach like Staubitz was

Man I hope so! I know Sarnia lacked talent but he very clearly is in over his head. Never seen a worse ran PP in any level of hockey. Handed him a job right out of playing & he isn't ready for it.

Wonder if that becomes official this weekend after dev camp. Since mostly everyone is in town.

Seca said they want more experience at the position. The former guy was rather young so I get it.
How’d lammmens look this weekend?
No fans allowed today. Scrimmages are tomorrow.

Hilarious... Hunter puts him out to cause a scuffle at the end of the game but also wanted to get off the ice fast and ends up standing in the bench door. I like Hunter but honestly sometimes I really don't. LDN has a reputation of producing some of the biggest babies in hockey.

Letangs kid is rather young yet they kept him. Do they not want more experienced coaches for player development or are they ok with a 22 year old doing that? more experience in the equipment room but Letangs kid on the staff is A ok... They hold the equipment staff to a higher standard than the coaching staff .... Not a serious organization.

Made it out to the rookie scrimmages today from 1-4. Sucks Aucoin & Jaworski were unable to play, but gave some other kids more ice.

team Konecny:

Lammens stood out. Big kid, strong, good skater & his shot is much better than I thought. He blew it past the goalie multiple times. He got into it a few times & showed that pesty/agitation style.

Chamberlain is such an elite skater I so badly hope he pieces it all together. Absolutely dusted guys a few times.

Dunn (8th) some said was a steal & I see why. Kid has a bit of everything. Was involved in everything.

Sewell is really exciting. Giant kid, but has good feet, agility. Uses his reach constantly. If he can speed up his decision making he'll be up with the big club pretty quick I think.

Ebersold impressed me for such a late pick. Seca said hes just a strong defender & he really showed that all day. Good size, good skating, good stick, good vision.

Team Stamkos:

Kamzik I really liked a lot.. Big kid, good not great skater, always going at the net & being around it. Strong on the puck as guys couldn't get it off him. His shot looked amazing. Sweet release. He & Lammens went at it 3or4 times. He wasn't gonna let the rook throw him around lol. really hope we get him signed. We don't have many like him.

Gullstrand is very skilled. Fun player. Needs to add muscle & not always try to dangle, but hes got some real upside offensively. Curios where he ends up this next season. Cant see him on the Sting so does he go USHL?

Romain is exciting too, but he looked more raw than Sewell. He kept trying to do to much & it created bad situations. He's gigantic. must be 6'6" if not more. skates well for that size. if he could refine his skills & pick his spots better he could be a good one. big if though.

Team Kyrou:

Gaughan was the best player on the ice for my money. He looked terrific. Skating looked better, he looked a bit bigger. thought he was making it a point to be a bit more physical/get into the gritty areas which was a real issue this season. Hope he carries this into the summer then camp.

Simpson was good. His shot looked really strong. Overpowered most of the kids there with his size, strength. just don't see how he isn't on the team next yr.

Denes like last yr I liked him. hes small, but man hes shifty, elusive & skilled. His shot is nasty too. He's close.

Sinclair is nasty. Kid has a sick set of hands. He was making guys look silly all afternoon. He sort of reminded me of a slower, slightly smaller Jacob Perreault. He can definitely play OHL just wonder if its here as his skillset needs to be T9 at least & do we have a spot for him?

Osipenko has grown quite a bit. He looked 6'0" at least (was same size when next to guys listed 6'0/6'1. He was the best goalie there. Always in position. Great anticipation. He's gonna push Maillet for backup IMO.

Darolfi impressed me too. biggest goalie there, but he moves well & had great rebound control.

I was really disappointed in Walos. He honestly looked so out of it/disinterested. Small glimpses of the skill people talk about, but outside that he wasn't even moving his feet much. If this was an audition he got passed by a lot of guys.

Grovestine struggled mightily. He was getting torched the first 2 games. In the finals he stood on his head at least, but wasn't a great day for him.

Neusteter didnt look much improved to me. still iffy with the puck, not overly smooth on his feet. cant see him making the team with who all is back + Aucoin, Sewell, Romain.

overall was a pretty solid set of games. better than most in recent years. gotta be one of the bigger groups they've brought in, too. the americans/ncaa kids showed very well outside walos. hopefully we can get a few signed.
