Sarnia Sting 2024 25 Season Thread Part Iii

Here's a great video of Lammens. 2 mins of goals + some hits.

U see why the Sting (and other teams) love his upside. Big, strong, good skater, good shot, pretty soft hands for a kid his size + very physical.

Didn't show off his passing either which was honestly his best attribute in the handful of games I watched.

I've come around on the pick. We saw vs LDN in '23 what happens when your entire T6 is skill guys. They get pushed around, kept to the outside. Warren is sub 5'10. Murata is soft. I'd prefer Delisle but he wants to go to OS.

Somebody needs to be the Hyman/Bennett/Tkachuk to our stars. Now if he doesn't become a good producer it won't be worth the pick, but he's got legit upside to be a guy who can be a physical force & contribute consistently with his size/skating/shot.

Could compliment Di Iorio/Edwards really fricken well & be a bigtime power forward in this league which we frankly haven't had since... Matt Martin?? As ohl4life said IF he hits his potential he could be a unicorn like player especially in today's game lol.

It's not 1st pick we worry about as there are good options up there, I worry about 2nd-6th round where DS has under achieved in so many drafts.
The 2nd round picks are huge could be 2 turning point team changing players to speed up this rebuild i'm all for one of those DS flyer out on a limb picks in 2nd round or 3rd.
The 2nd 2 picks need to build on what's really needed on this roster.
1000% a impact D and Goal tending. I'm guessing we take a goalie in the top 3 rounds.

See what MG has imputed on to change the look

I’d personally take Delisle, physical and more skill, and if you pick him I think he will come, but I think lammens will be good, not ideal to pick him at 4 tho. I’ve been seeing Sarnia local Mclaughin is suppose to go late in the 1st. Would have went higher but was hurt almost all year, he will be a steal. Top 8 defenceman prospects listed.

Ive heard from a scout that his skating is average at best, not the way he skates (has decent form) but he said lammens has heavy feet, in the 2nd and 3rd clip I can see what he means. He will have to really improve his speed more than other players his age because if he has average speed in AAA his lack of speed might stand out in the OHL. But maybe his other skills might make up for that, who knows. But ya he could definitely be a good complimentary piece in our top 6. Have to wait and see what happens down the road, we can’t get too excited about the guys they draft, half the time we got too excited and they are duds or they just get used wrong in the lineup then get traded. So let’s not get our expectations and hopes too high this weekend.

John Tavares was knocked for his skating first years in OHL, power skating session took care of that. You want to compare Lammens to Matt Martin ? Last played 08-09 Sting , its been that long since we had a POWER forward and he was a free agent . Pick Brenner if he is there. Him and Ryder Simpson are what the offense needs next season

Ya I agree, but he absolutely dominated AAA hockey and the OHL (exceptional status) with other skills (elite hockey IQ, elite playmaking/goal scoring and real good stick handling), lammens doesn’t even compare to the type of skills that Tavares has. Tavares still isnt a good skater, he was always elite in other skills and smart on the ice to help make up for his skating. This kid doesn’t have anywhere near that type of skill so I think he will need to make his skating a lot better.

Still a really ballsy pick by whoever takes him. Missed so much time.

Hopefully it isn't Windsor or London though haha. Don't need a 2nd local kid lighting us up 😂

Be honest I think it could be London. Seems exactly like something they would do, take a chance and looking like genius’s that they are lol. He played a game with strathroy and had 2 points in 1 game and had 2 goals in 2 games with the Lambton sting. Start of the year he was ranked like 8th. I don’t think it would be that much of a risk to take him there, everyone gets hurt, hopefully his rehab was good and a team like London would definitely get his development back on track.

I really think we can get Matthew Henderson in round two maybe even with our second pick in that round. We could also pick Dante d’andrea in round 5 ish.

They go with Lammens. Would not of been my first choice (Delisle), but I am happy with the player, his upside & what he'll bring to the team. It is much needed. Has a chance to make them look awfully dumb down the road, but could also make them look awfully smart. Hopefully it's the latter.

Think we will all come to be huge fans of his game especially if the team actually goes on a playoff run or two in the coming years.

Look forward to having one of those guys every other team hates lol & hopefully he can keep developing his offensive game.

Sarnia goes grinder 1st round Brenner Lammens pass on WARREN most skilled in draft.
And passed max Delisle

So hard to watch Wysick get picked before 4 (we all new he would) but man his video and the way Terry and the other guy spoke about him gets me down, he’s going to have a great career. The guy on the panel was trying so hard not to say Delisle is just the better version of Lammens. Owen sound can thank Tristan, the only reason he’s not in a sting jersey.

Biggest thing for Wycisk is putting in the effort consistently. If he does he'll be a pretty special player no doubt. Also be interesting if the rumours of him wanting to go NCAA come true or not.

Yah, Delisle is gonna be a beast. OS got a good one with him & it definitely seems like it's thanks to his brother being there as I'm not sure he would've made it past OTT had he not started acting that way past 2 weeks.

I'm ok passing on a guy who doesn't wanna be here. Lammens will be here for a good 4 years. I don't expect a ton from him next year. I didn't know much about the Red Wings but from everything I read the team went as he went... Silver Stick runner ups and beat Jr. Canadiens in rd1. When he was out they went't good. I hated the name a few weeks ago but I've grown on the pick. Difficult to pass on Warren but a lot of other teams did too.

Had to laugh at the short video the Sting posted leading up to are pick. It's just Seca talking well everyone listens but Letang looked totally zone out. IMO he looked a little grumpy.

He apparently outplayed Warren head to head. Carried the Red Wings to the finals of a tournament. Beat JRC in playoffs. Also rumours Warren like Wycisk might go NCAA at 18. TBD on that obvi, but another reason to be hesitant with him and he's 5'9".

As much as I like Warren im fine passing on him. Delisle will be the one im watching, haha. I think Lammens is gonna be a good one. Just hope Delisle isn't a great one lol.

Sidenote: this draft is making me feel old with kids like Kulemin (son of Nik Kulemin), Roberts (son of Gary) going & Daley Jr (son of Trevor) expected to go.

I agree, we all need to relax and let things unfold the way they will. I like the pick, do I know a ton about these prospects, not really but to be honest nothing is guaranteed when your drafting 15 and 16 year olds. You want kids that want to play for your team.
Now we need some solid defence and a goaltender. I feel we will take a few Americans here also soon

Damn there goes Henderson. Was hoping he'd slip to us, but he doesn't. congrats to him though on going round 1! Sarnia starting to develop these kids a bit with Nesbitt, Henderson & maybe Mclaughlin all going RD1 recently!

Maybe we nab McLaughlin in round 2 if he’s still there, there is also D’andrea in a few rounds. Tones! of really good defenceman left.

I didn't notice Legwand in the draft room this year.
