We get it you like meaningless wins while eating your nachos and waving your towel. You’d have been ok with missing out on jaromir Jagr or Mario for that one extra meaningless win
I like watching Crosby continue to extend his legacy with another top 10 point finish. I think guys like him and Geno that have done so much for this franchise deserve the support of the fanbase. If they seemed like tanking was what they wanted, I'm in. It's clearly not.

Guys its just hockey. Every win an NHL team has ever had has been meaningless to anyone not making money from it.

Also, I do love condescension from fans who act like it's superior to root against the team they "support"

Three years ago we needed to beat a bottom 3 team in the league to make the playoffs and we got blown out instead. Now we beat a top team in the league to sabotage our draft pick. No wonder the arena is empty, the product is bad AND there's nothing to look forward to.

Frankly it pisses me off…do well at the end of the season when playoff positioning is already secure for nearly every team they’re playing and Jarry goes on a heater because there’s no expectations…earlier in the year when other teams are playing hard, they no show, most the defense, and get horrific goaltending….im so over Sullivan hockey

I agree with both of these posts tbh. Just feels like the nothing bounces our way past few years.

But then you step back and realize we got a ton of bounces the 20 years prior. So it’s ok.

But it does feel like a lot of years of no man’s land at this point.

I think the back-to-back cups helped me prepare for this more than anything.

Not because "wow, I got my fill of winning!" but because it was when I truly realized: I'm not a player. I get very little out of this. I was emotionally invested in the team while watching them, but the moment the season ended, even if it ended with my team winning everything, nothing changed for me. If we won, if we lost, I would wake up tomorrow mostly-unaffected.

So, the fan side of me, it just doesn't matter. I understand why people want us to lose more. I understand why drafting 4th is better than 8th or 9th. But it just doesn't tickle my testes all that much either way. I'm not making the pick at the draft, or I'm not trading the pick this off-season, and no matter what happens over the next 4 months, they'll still ice a team next year. And they'll lose a lot. And it'll be the same complaints then as we have now. But nothing will change for us as individuals, unless we let it impact us emotionally.

No reason to play like that and try and win last night. Utter insanity.

I'm glad I didn't watch. Part of me wanted to - but that would have been even worse than checking the score today and realizing the inevitable - this team sabotaging 2 draft positions to secure a BAD win. Congrats guys. End the season on a high note!

Nobody ever accused that group of being smart though.

I am on record wanting them to lose last night and most of the year for a better pick.

But this post is utter insanity. You really think competitive pro athletes aren’t gonna try to win? They could not give less of a f*** about a draft pick.

Outside of pride- logically this is an ultra competitive league where you have a short shelf life and very short window to make money. They have jobs to keep, contracts to play for. For players that aren’t Crosby, EK, Guentzel your career is extremely fragile. Absurd to expect them not to try.

People have lost the plot on this board.

Its nice to see that after all the concussion issues Sid has been able to collect a further 9 top 10 scoring finishes. 6th in scoring in his rookie and 10th in his 20th. Very Howe like

Yeah we're talking 1 game, end of the season for 2 draft spots.

It's on management to figure that part out. That's their freaking job - to manage. Not to cater to Rust getting 30 goals...or whatever the F they were doing.

It's not a crazy take. Game 82, we're long out of the playoffs. Could have done a huge number of things last night.

This team is PLENTY capable of sabotaging games. They've done it probably a dozen times this year already - games where "coach was extra hard on them last night" - and you can see Sid & Co just dogging it out there. But game 82? Strap up boys NOW we're playing for keeps. Bullshit to try and say they're pros and all going out there to win every night when that's clearly not been the case for 4 years.

This is legitimately one of the dumbest posts I’ve ever seen on this website. Which is saying a lot.

“Hey molon the company needs you to suck at your job going forward. We will likely replace you soon with someone cheaper and younger we can develop into a future leader of the firm too. Oh and only a select few of the bosses and the investors will benefit from you sucking at your job going forward. You will reap zero reward from this. But it’s for the good of the company. Thanks.”

'Going forward'

Care to think differently here? How about management maybe...since they were eliminated a couple weeks ago start playing AHL to see what they're made of? Lowering the minutes of the few NHL players on the roster?

Or, we can only think one dimensionally - and yeah we ask Sid not to do his job "GOING FORWARD"

Because again, playing to lose for 1 single game...the last of the season - is utterly absurd!

When they won those cups, people at work would say "congratulations" to me. My response was, why, I didn't win it, my name isn't going on there. It's just a form of entertainment. And the people running it care only about us continuing to spend our money. NOthing more.

Another crazy thing about Sid finishing top 10 in scoring is that every player above him played for a playoff team. He did it on a garbage team with a garage coach.
Pasta didn't lol, the Broons were worse than us. But he's also 28. The closest guy to Sid's age is Kucherov and he's 6 years younger.

can you please name the "jagr or mario" that would have been available at pick 7?

asking for a friend named kyle

Team was 2 meaningless wins from pick 4. This draft has 4 all star level talents in it according to experts. Jagr was picked at #4

Only reason Sid and the other old-timers are sticking around is because the league went soft.
Different league from 10-15 years ago, which, he would not likely make it through full seasons at his age.
