Sarnia Sting 2024 - 25 Season Thread, Part II

  • Xenforo Cloud will be upgrading us to version 2.3.5 on March 3rd at 12 AM GMT. This version has increased stability and fixes several bugs. We expect downtime for the duration of the update. One of the biggest reasons this team has fallen off is their veteran Fs have disappeared & his brilliant mind decides to put all 3 together & make it our 1st line. All three probably played 20-25 minutes. Including our 1st OT line being 12-11-5 & our 2nd being 25-40-13.

HOW is Brown not one of our first Fs over the boards in OT? He leads the team in points since DEC 1. He set up the OT winner vs WSR. He was BY FAR our best F tonight. Di Ioiro & Edwards have consistently been two of our most productive players & they don't see the ice in OT.

They are now 4-12 in OT/SO. Worst in the OHL to go with the worst special teams in the OHL.

Letang has to be mentally challenged, both of our OA’s and 19 year old forwards are not that skilled, if you put wainwright, filak and Doucette on a top 6 contending team all 3 would be 4th liners maybe 3rd liners at best depending on the team. None of them are very skilled. Our 16 and 17 year old forwards are our best and most skilled players, and they score the most so f***ing play them! Also they are our future and need to develop so again f***ing play them!!!! Gosh he’s so damn dumb. Put his son on the bench for all I care, he might be better at running this team than his old man.

I think manza is 100% gone to Ohio state next season, and very good chance karimov stays in Russia. After this god aweful display of coaching and terrible management and. development of our young skilled players this year.
 
It sucks a pretty solid effort goes by the wayside tonight. Kitchener definitely came out rather disinterested, but Sarnia played harder than they have in awhile. did a good job keeping KIT to the outside even when they eventually found their game.

Brown-Beamish-Luecke were awesome I thought. Brown was easily our best F. Luecke had a strong game in an elevated role which he's done before. He's a guy im so intrigued by. Hurt-Fischer were excellent together & Fischer scored once again to give him 15G in only 40 games.

It's just so frustrating leaving so many games sour about how things were handled/coached. I'm dumbfounded Edwards played so little tonight. Hall on L3? In what world does that make sense. Every time they go cold Letang's immediate thought is Karimov to L4 & I cant imagine how depressing, frustrating, confusing that probably is for Ruslan. He benches the U17s constantly but never holds his 19s/20s accountable.

I hate that I sat thru most of tonights game pissed off & didn't enjoy any of it. Makes cheering & watching your team a not so fun experience. Very disappointing to be back in a spot where I'm on the fence of cheering for them to win or rooting for them to lose & miss for a T4 pick & so they avoid LDN..

Season very likely comes down to the next 7 days. GUE/GUE/FLT. 3-0 & they probably lock in a spot. 2-1 & they are in the driver seat to make it. 0-3 or 1-2 & they will be in big trouble for making it. See if tonight was a sign they will play better, or if it was entirely KIT not showing up.
 
Certainly disappointing to blow a two-goal lead but can't complain too much about getting a point in Kitchener. The Aud always been a tough place for Sarnia to play and I would have bet good money that they were losing 6-1 going into the game last night.

I'd love for Letang to make some different decisions in OT (stop putting ice-cold Doucette out there) and for him to stop making weird lineup decisions too but I'll take the optmistic view today.

They gain a point on everyone with Guelph, Owen Sound, and the Soo losing in regulation. After cooling down for a bit, Brown has six points (2G, 4A) in his last six games, including multi-point games against Kitchener and Windsor. Fischer became the 10th d-man in Sting history to hit 15 goals in a single season. Hurt has nicely settled into his role as the third d-man since Fischer and Young have returned. In that time, he's put up a +10 rating.

Ultimately, I'm hoping this game can be a confidence booster like the Kingston game was the last time the team got out of a big slump

No sure I agree or disagree but last night I watched a different team mich better effort and way better compete. Was their mistakes and some coaching errors? Yes leaving Beamish line out against swick for 30 second in 3rd after matching against filak and Wainwright all game and guess what Lueke turns over just inside blueline in their end and it ends up in our net. I did like the look of lines last night thought Line 1 shut down Kit line 1 all night which is what letang was going for it was successful. Wish Doucette played last night, just didn't show, was off his game big time last night and coughed it up in OT. Don't like Seeing Hall out late of tied game thats forsure. I was torn between what I saw last night and what I have seen lately. Lines were together 1 game and had moments. Was confused at 1st but as game went on seemed pretty solid lineup.
Like to see sunday get better feel for it.
D have to be way better IMO

I have issues with these lines but what else is new..... Big game lets see how she goes. Kinda bummed all I can do is follow the box score today. lol I honestly don't know if I want them to win or lose.

You can't make it up. Great start..another Doucette TO leads to a goal. Letang immediately throws them back out there.

0 accountability.

These refs are trash. Dude is bear hugging Wainwright no call. Another guy grabs him no call. Scrum breaks out because of it. Karabela breaks O'Briens stick and almost scores. No call. So bad.

Pretty sure Bridgewater was walked wide and Paquette made good move. But Bridgewater had from their blueline in. Sure doucette lost puck at Hash Mark's. But come on that was all Bridgeeater bad angle and gave up.
Was good start and end of period was what playoff hockey should look like hopefully that fire and compete comes back in 2nd. Own end weak turnovers are crazy fischer/ hurt/ barr /young let's go secure the back end

He didn't defend it well but also was flat footed not expecting Doucette to hand it over at the blue line. Same thing he did in OT Friday.
 
Wasn't pretty, but they won. Solid effort start to finish. Very physical, blocking shots, winning battles etc. noted bottom-6 F Beckham Edwards continues to produce more than everyone else. What a sick finish on his backhand for his goal.

Beamish had his best game since returning. Nice play with him & Brown who had a great weekend. Sweet shot by Manza (noted 4th liner!) on his goal. Has 5G/5A in 17 GP. Not shabby with his TOI/lack of PP time.

I thought O'Brien was a beast today. Right from the get go he seemed to be fired up. Hits, aggressive plays etc. Same goes for Moses who was flying up & down the ice. Also thought Young was terrific today. So many strong plays on both ends. When he plays like that he's a helluva Dman. continue to like Barr's play.

Easy day for Surzycia but he did make a couple big ones. His best weekend in a bit. Vet line defended hard vs Luchanko/Katzin but my god they cant finish to save their lives right now.

Back into 7th by 1 point. Big 3in3 next week vs GUE FLT LDN.

The reffing is truly horrendous in this league. It's legitimately ruining the product. These kids are playing for their playoff lives & these clowns wont stop getting in the way.

O'Brien gets his stick slashed in half in front of his net. No call & it led to a grade A chance.
Luecke gets hit in the face, is bleeding it isn't called. O'Brien comes over DOESNT drop his gloves until Karabela is already throwing punches & he gets an instigator.

Namestnikov then follows Luecke back to the benches chirping in his face (which is bleeding) so Luecke spits at him (obviously not something you should ever do even if he missed), but WTF are the refs/linesman doing???? Why aren't they escorting Luecke back/steering namestnikov away whose chirping an injured player? Thats on them. Entirely. Luecke will be gone 3-5-8 games now.

Young blatantly kneed a GUE player in the neutral zone in the 2nd & they somehow let it go. They later gave us a favourable early whistle when they were all over us & the puck was loose.

In the 3rd the puck CLEARLY goes into the netting & somehow all 4 guys miss it??? GUE nearly scored twice on that shift because they apparently are blind. Kicking guys out of the draw left & right all day.

They have no idea how to keep a lid on games. End of the 1st got messy. End of the 3rd got messy. They left all 9 guys at the end to talk amongst themselves as both refs went to the benches.... You don't do that lmao. They were begging for a line brawl with that.

It is so goddamn bad. Every single night. Every single team. It's worsening the experience as a fan as well as driving these kids & coaches insane. Find new refs. Find new teachers. Something.
 
Sure does feel like the playoff race will come down to the final weekend for SAR SSM OS.

Soo - 51 PTS - 8th - 8 games left - 4 home/4away

Someone get him a Parekh jersey to wear to the disciplinary hearing and he’ll be fine.

Honestly, I think it would probably be best if you guys miss the playoffs. Get your coaches fired. Get a lottery pick etc. If it’s Sarnia tearing through the league in a couple years that won’t break my heart. You guys deserve it. Have liked the city for decades, enjoy the arena, the fans have always been cool to me and mine, the forum members are knowledgeable and reasonable. Any disagreements are just that and it doesn’t get personal or taken to heart. They’ve never iced a roster full of hacks or d-bags that I hated. I think you’ve got a killer young core. Just need more expierience and a coach.

Agree, just think this Staff is setting things back development wise for this group and we will see just how bad next season. I fear if we make the playoffs, this coach and pp coach will be back which is disheartening to think about. I think we need to make playoffs just for these young guys to feel the intensity and physicality of a playoff game to help them learn. But again torn with that cost being another year with Letang and jefferies unless Legwand has finally heard the Fans.
