One of their worst losses of the year. Playing a non playoff team who beat u recently & they choke a 3-1 lead.

Brown after the 1st said in his interview the key to this game was playing a strong 60 & not letting their foot off the gas like they did last time. They did exactly what he said they couldn't do.

Super frustrating to see. What should've been a great weekend getting 3/4 they get 2/4 & in each game they led by 2. It's points like this that come back to haunt you at the end for where you finish & play.

PK has been unreal under Matsos but tonight it was horrific. 3PPGA vs a unit that hasn't been good. It lacked the urgency/desperation it's been playing with.

Bright spots:
Di Iorio and Manza 3 points each. That line was unreal.

Maillet was really strong again. Way to many breakdowns tonight & he bailed them out a ton.

Another goal from the backend which has been happening a lot lately.

A late PPG to get themselves a point. Although they then wasted 45 seconds of a 4on3 doing a bunch of nothing. Idk what Jeffrey's drew up but good god it sucked.

Managed to get a PT, but it should've been 2. First 3in3 in awhile next week. Gotta be ready for it!

Letang played line 1 way too much no jam tonight and beamish had weaker night in circle, wasn't his usual night tonight and kept playing that line while Edward's karimov played 4 shifts in 3rd.
Major choke job, at end of Day Letang burned bunch of players in the 3rd looked like they lost their legs in 3rd and out coached in owen sound yet again. Those are 2 points that come back at end of year. Get 1 from Windsor was a win only get 1 from owen sound is huge loss.

WT. was that 3rd period ?
A super young team taking a game for granted would be my guess.

They haven't played that lazy/slow/lackadaisical in a period since that 2-18 stretch. Was pretty brutal to watch.

If Surzycia is sick maybe some of the other guys are too and that could explain it. If not just a really poor final 20 from the team.

Some of the credit goes to the youngest team in the league...no quit in them
They definitely get credit for not accepting defeat, but anytime your up 2 vs a young team that likely isn't gonna make the playoffs you have to close it out.

Those first 10-12 minutes Sarnia wasn't skating at all. OS was doing circles around them.

Mbuyi is a stud! Gonna be one helluva player.

Getting 2/4 on the weekend stinks (funny enough would've been my prediction going in for points), but sure was nice to see back2back strong games from Maillet.

And he was tested. 35/39 vs WSR & 38/42 vs OS. He made 5or6 pretty remarkable saves on the weekend.

Taking out the 9GA game in Saginaw he's 4-5-2 with a 0.892 sv% in 11 starts. While that isn't elite, that puts him right with Surzycia & only a couple "points" back of guys like Ivankovic, Leenders, George, Oster who all have .900.

In his last 6 starts he has a 0.902 sv%.

He has certainly earned more starts going forward & gives you a bit more confidence about their goaltending going into next year. Although still has more to prove to say he's a starting caliber goalie

Debated if it was to early for such a post, but what the hell.

23 games left for SAR, FLT, SSM. We sit 1 back of FLT for 6th & are 2 up on SSM for 7th.

5th is looking unlikely. 6 back now of both ER&SAG & they both have a game in hand (ER has 2). So unless 1 really stumbles gonna be hard.

Top-3 is looking more & more locked in with LDN 1st, WSR 2nd, KIT 3rd unless LDN stumbles which seems unlikely.

So the goal is definitely to stay away from the 8 seed & a meeting with London lol.. Not that they'd beat KIT or WSR, but I think they'd hang in there better & maybe win a game, or two.

Remaining schedule:

Flint: 12 home / 11 away
Home to - KIT, KGN, SBY, GUE, NB, WSR, SAR, SAG, BRNT, SAR, SSM, SAG
Away - WSR, PBO, KGN, OTT, LDN, ER, GUE, ER, OS, SAR, SAG

Sarnia: 13 home / 10 away
Home to - ER, KGN, PBO, GUE, SSM, SAG, WSR, NB, GUE, LDN, ER, SSM, FLT
Away - GUE, WSR, WSR, FLT, KIT, GUE, FLT, BAR, WSR, SSM

SSM: 12 home / 11 away
Home to - KIT, BRNT, SAG, GUE, OS, NB, SBY, BRMP, BAR, OSH, SAG, SAR
Away - SAG, NB, BAR, OSH, LDN, SAR, BRNT, WSR, SAR, FLT, SBY

Games against teams they are ahead of not counting each other since it's so tight:
FLT - 6
SAR - 6
SSM - 4

Games vs elite (top 5 on either side) teams:
FLT - 12
SAR - 11
SSM - 12

I think it's rather ridiculous the team hasn't made a single statement on Kostuch other than he was back home around Christmas. I get it for other things, but with such a scary injury it feels unnecessary to keep the fans completely in the dark on how the kid is doing.

In saying that I talked to someone who usually is good for info & he said the plan is for him for return before seasons end. Also said from what he's gathered they are hopeful he avoided permanent eye damage.

Can't say this is 100% concrete, but usually this guy is spot on. If so this is awesome to hear. For the team, but more importantly a young kid.

Hopefully things keep trending well. Be a helluva boost to the team to get him back for the stretch run!

They did post a picture on social media when he was back at the rink too. It would be nice to have a little more info but we do have to remember that this is a 17 year old kid with a scary injury. They were likely trying to protect him during a difficult time.

It's awesome to hear that they're hopeful he's avoided permanent damage! He has to be 100% if they're going to play him. If even the slightest thing feels off then he shouldn't be playing. His long-term health is far more important than hockey

Definitely. Just feel like if he's back with the team (at least hanging around them) they should put some sorta statement out. Doesn't gotta be point-blank what's going on, but something would be nice.

Yah if he's gotta sit out the season to get as healthy as he can be they gotta do it for him.

I didn't realize Ryan Suzuki had a similar injury while in the OHL. He had to sit out 2.5 months before playing again. He has a blind spot looking straight but can see fine to the sides. Making his NHL debut tonight.

Surzycia back in net.

Same F lines as we've seen except 15-8-24 is L4.

Bridgewater sitting. Not a fan.
Barr in. Bodin in.

Gotta see a way better effort than in OS. Must win with 2 harder games tomorrow and Sunday

Absolutely love it.

They switch Bodin and O'Brien once again (it's 0-2 for working so far!) and on the 1st shift bodin takes a dumb penalty and GUE scores.

Comical. JUST LEAVE IT ALONE.

Sting PK is an absolute tire fire now. What the hell are they doing out there. 5 PPG in 4 periods vs OS&GUE. Simply can't happen.

In saying that sure wish Surzycia saved that 2nd one. Definitely one he can stop.

Offensively they were handed 2 goals. Gotta get some sustained zone time.

Well D pairing aweful again Letang what are you doing. Omg the pk your right, is just brutal. Buzz are getting offensive chances on pk but giving up too many chances the Guys just don't seem to be switching off. Seeing beamish line way too much and not enough 4th line!

Sting played like crap. Got a bit lucky. But at least they got the win.

What the actual f*ck were those refs smoking tonight. NINE penalties to TWO???? In that chippy, intense, physical of a game? Brown gets a vicious cross check to the back and it isn't called. Hurt gets very obviously tripped racing back for a puck.. Not called. Fischer gets a punch in the face & is bleeding. Not called. Beamish got hit from behind multiple times. Not called. Filak on his breakaway took a hard slash right to his hands. Not called. But Sarnia gets 2 penalties in the final 4 minutes when they had put the whistles away all 3rd period.

Fricken garbage. Had Sarnia lost this game because of those calls I might've blown a gasket lmao. I mean come the F on with that. Not even saying our calls were soft. But that was as one-sided a game called ive seen.

Brown was amazing tonight. Sick assist on Beamish goal & on the Fischer goal he won multiple battles then took 2 cross checks to the head (they were being called shockingly) while screening the goalie. Kid is such a gamer.

Edwards looked great. Kid is gonna be such a force in the coming years. What a shot on his goal.

Fischer had some moments I am not thrilled with, but it felt like some GUE guys got under his skin & boy did he take it out on them lol. Some crunching hits, some strong wall play & a GWG for the captain who's on fire!

Surzycia started slow/rusty, but thought in the 2nd & 3rd he was excellent. PK still needs to be worked on, but credit where's its due. It killed 7 straight including those 2 in the final 4 minutes.

Sting need more from Doucette. He's been rather invisible since returning from SSPD. Young was brutal tonight. Wainwright needs to be a bit more consistent too. 3 huge vets for this team that need to be some of our best guys especially vs ER & KGN the next 2 days.

I'm so frustrated, annoyed & confused with this love affair with splitting up 6-72. They've been so good together. completely solidified the T4. and Letang keeps splitting them up for Bodin??? Who's been our worst D this year. I know we have 8D, but I hate sitting Bridgewater. The kid has been consistently good all yr. It shown when he's out. It actively makes our dcore worse making these decisions.

Gotta be a lot better tomorrow vs Erie.

I only got to watch the first part of the opening period and the third period today but I was not pleased with what I saw either.

Out of the gate they didn't have much jump. They looked a lot more like the team we saw go 2-18 than the team we saw in January. They seemed a lot more focused on throwing hits than getting the puck. It's fine to be physical but there has to be a point to it.

The refereeing may not have been good but taking nine penalties against Guelph should never happen. That's a discipline issue that needs to be addressed. They played Windsor (one of the top teams in the league) a week ago and only took two penalties. That has to be the type of team that they are night in and night out. The base of your game shouldn't change based off who your playing.

Wholeheartedly agree that the O'Brien-Hurt pair shouldn't be touched. The team has played their worst hockey when they split them up. The 8D situation doesn't give Letang an excuse to sit Bridgewater. Barr, Bodin, and Omeri can rotate in and out. Bridgewater has been consistent, shown steady improvement throughout the year, and is the most disciplined. There's no reason for him to be sitting

How about Ryan Brown, eh?

First 29 games: 3 Goals / 6 Assists / -7

Last 17 games: 10 goals / 12 assists / +17

Gotta say I cant remember an in season turn around as drastic as his has been. Went from completely invisible & not contributing offensively, to maybe the best player on the ice in almost all of those 17 games. Been awesome to see.

Not a coincidence that his turnaround coincides with Beamish signing with the Sting.

As in 21 games Beamish has: 7 goals & 11 assists for 18 points & is a team best +15!

What chemistry they have (with Filak too) & boy has it been a huge reason why this season got turned back around.

Definitely. They got carried away with the dumb stuff. Some really stupid penalties & a lack of discipline. I was thinking that myself about them looking like the October/Novemeber Sting for a bit there. Thankfully the 3rd was a lot better, but still not nearly good enough.

It just makes no sense. Why mess with what's been so good for you? Disrupts everything past 5-13. Be one thing if it looked promising or encouraging. It don't. Bodin isnt a top-4 Dman & that's become very clear. O'Brien meanwhile has been a terrific T4 Dman & has no business being demoted. Bodin-Bridgewater should be the 3rd pair. Its worked when together & they fit well beside each other. When Barr/Omeri come in do it for Bodin.

If they don't up their play these next 2 games at home could be ugly. Erie & KGN can both fill the net, especially KGN.
