Sarnia Sting 2024 - 25 Season Thread, Part II

Well it looks like unless something crazy happens. The Sting aren't going to do anything big which bugs me a bit. But I wonder if we still make a move or 2. With Manza coming in that's going to bump Luecke or Moses out of the lineup. Which is a shame cause there both playing well. So I wonder if we see one of them move. Plus are backlog on D. I wonder if we see Bodin or Omeri moved.

With the prices the way they are. I wonder if we could see a package deal of.

Omeri and Luecke.

Or Omeri and Moses.

Either way that could give us a decent return IMO. Maybe something like a 4th and 5th or maybe a 3rd and 5th.

Johnston for a 10th to SAG after giving LDN a 4th a few months ago. Ouch. Seca's gotta be slamming his head against the wall on this one. Tough to place a whole lot of blame IMO. Johnston had played well down the stretch last year and had an unreal pre-season. Tough one to swallow for sure.

It's tough. I liked taking the chance. Team has very little 19 yr old talent outside Wainwright, Young so adding what you hoped was a T6 F was smart IMO.

As you said he seemed to be trending in the right direction/putting it all together. I know a lot of London fans on their board were actually pretty angry by the move at the time. His first 10 games here I was ecstatic. He looked like maybe our best F!

But on the other hand they should've dug a bit deeper because you'd have to think it wouldn't of been hard to find why he hadn't found a regular spot in the lineup at 17 or 18. Effort is something pretty easy to see even on tape & my god once it dipped here it just kept going down before it was bad enough to be scratched.

Definitely got taught a lesson by Hunter.

With the OA deadline passed Filak, Doucette & Surzycia will end their OHL careers where they began them here in Sarnia. While I would've loved if they could've gotten a 2nd or 3rd for them I just don't think that was out there for them.

They are all quality OAs, but not on that top tier that contenders want. All three have gotten better yr by yr which has been nice. Not seen many guys take as much a beating as Filak has in his time here & he never changes his style or backs down. Doucette went from walk-on to our best scorer the last 2 seasons & Surzycia went from U18 pick to a pretty damn good starting goalie this year.

Hopefully they can finish strong & help us push for 5th.

I love this deal by Seca!

I was pretty open that I thought Kapagredis didn't look OHL ready in camp. Obviously a talented Dman but didn't look ready to defend at this level to me.

He's committed for next season, which I imagine is being pushed back, but Sarnia is rather deep on D & I'm not sure where he figured in.

Being able to flip him for an immediate 2nd round pick + 3rd + 8th is great work IMO.

Sarnia continues to utilize the U18 draft maybe as good as any team.

Sarnia's current draft board

2025- 1st, 2nd, 2nd (KIT), 4th (NB), 5th (KIT), 5th (WSR), two 7ths, three 8ths, 9th, two 10ths, 11th, 12th, 13th, 14th, 15th.

2026- 1st, 3rd, 5th (KIT), 6th, two 8ths, 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th, 13th, 14th, 15th

2027- 1st, 2nd (NB), 3rd, 3rd (OTT), two 6ths, two 8ths, 9th, 11th, 12th, 13th, 14th, 15th

2028- Have all our picks except 4th.

Not stacked up by any means, but pretty solid. 2026 the obvious weak point, but in a year they can easily get those picks filled with Fischer, Young, Wainwright if they go that route. If they were to have a weak board that would be the year I'd want too.

Manza isn't on Chilliwack's roster anymore. Hopefully that means we see him sign tomorrow & maybe get in for the game vs OS!

Let's hope they can keep playing like they have & they don't dip playing a lesser team.

I'd like to see Maillet get the start as well. Give Surzycia the tougher game in Erie on Saturday.

Maybe Hall goes?
Chamberlain franchesschetti Lueke or moses good 4th line

Love to see manza get shot with Di iorio and wainwright tonight while doucette is out, so we don't tinker too much, keep some consistency while playing better

Mailett should go tonight Surzycia tomorrow however OS won last game pretty solid. We need to keep train rollin so Surzycia goes tonight

Yeah this one certainly helps take the sting out of the Johnston fiasco. Basically gained a 3rd and 8th for nothing. Tidy work indeed. Curious about the U-18 draft success compared the to rest of the league. I feel like we have to be one of, if not the most successful organizations for drafting that route.
