So with Manza likely added we should see -

Brown-Beamish-Filak
Wainwright-Di Iorio-Doucette
Karimov-Edwards-Manza
Luecke-Hall-Moses/Franceschetti

I wouldn't split up the lines we've been seeing. Maybe can flip Doucette/Manza, but not much else. It does suck to put Luecke back down to L4 after his recent surge, but it definitely creates more depth for them up front. Also a bit of an indication Kostuch likely isn't back anytime soon if at all.

See if we do anything else or if that's it.
"IF" he shows up to play in Sarnia. The only thing going for Sarnia is that he's not been playing much in BCHL and may see Sarnia as an opportunity.

Mixed feelings on this deal for Manza. Sounds like he's a fun player who should put up some points for us, but two 4th round picks for someone committed to Ohio State for next season?

So we get him 28 games + playoffs & he's gone. That doesn't feel like great asset management to me when this team stands no chance in the playoffs.

Unless he or Ohio State is pushing the commitment back a season or two, I don't like it even if he comes in & puts up point per game numbers.

GensUpdates mentioned to me Wang (OSH signed) & Cali (NB Signed) each pushed back their commitment a yr after signing. I hope that is the case here. If it is then I like the deal.
Completely agree, perfect deal if the commitment gets pushed back, if not then fire Seca. He better have done his homework on this one.

Fire might be a touch extreme haha, but yah I'd be upset if it's this season & that's it.

Wouldn't be smart GMing at all..Seca is usually pretty savvy/smart. I hope he's got some good indications he'll be here more than 3 months to give up two 4ths.

I'm sure the conditions are more then reasonable or this wouldn't have been done. No one is that stupid to pay that for an unproven player for 28 games and 1st rd playoff exit. Sting brass obviously know more then what they are letting on...I think the picture here is much larger then what we can currently see at a fan level. We are 2 for 2 with these BCHL signings so why the hell not go for 3?

From what I’ve read so far, it’s a 10th rounder if he doesn’t report, and if he reports we keep the 10th rounder and send both 4th rounders instead. If that’s true hopefully Seca can get the commitment pushed back 2 years. Hopefully beamish can get his pushed back a year aswell.

Here are some highlights of Manza mostly from last year.

Very skilled right winger. On the BCHL website he's listed as 6'0", 178 ibs. So he's grown a bit since last yr.

Not the fastest skater (similar to Beamish) but on alot of his points showed some real skill + a real nice release to his shot.

To get a commitment to Ohio State at 16 tells you he was pretty well regarded & that was even before he won OJHL rookie of the year.

If he is here for more than this season i think this was a strong deal by Seca. As ferda said they are 2/2 with the BCHL. For whatever reason that league seems to be where points go to die cause most of the guys that bailed for the CHL are performing way better.

Sarnia
Kingston just sent.

07 D
2x2nds
3x3rds
And a 4th, 5th and 6th.

For Hay and Bishop.

Why are we not selling.

Even if Manza can find a way to stay for next year.

After next year as of now well be losing.

Wainwright
Young
Fischer
Beamish
O'Brien
Manza

So are we really not selling just so we can play 4 playoff games. Just to turn around and sell them next year. When it will be harder to move Wainwright and Young as OA's and the price will be lower for them as OA's. Plus you run the risk of losing Young to NCAA. Also Fischers price will be lower as a rental.

I get what you are saying & see why many would want them to do that & I don't blame you, but im personally good with how they are going about it.

We've just watched 11 months worth of miserable hockey. Trading Young + Wainwright would make it 14 months of miserable hockey then your going into next year significantly worse without those 2 & you have no veterans outside O'Brien & Fischer. You'd be forcing our young guys to play top line minutes even if they aren't ready for it which is dangerous.

So the team could very easily be worse than the one we are watching now. Yes our U18s take steps, but you subtract two very important vets at the top of our lineup, remove almost all leadership from the get go + Fischer likely pushes for WJCs. We'd be in for another season of miserable on ice product.

Maybe it's selfish, but at least this way they remain solid this season & hopefully push for 5th (especially if SAG doesn't turn & use all these picks to buy) maybe win a game or two vs Erie in round 1 (maybe we upset somebody for once?!?!?! lol jokes) then to start next season they have a fairly solid roster that wins more than it loses until the TDL where they can flip Fischer for an '08 or '09 & 6-7 picks (Similar to what Gibson went for), Young assuming he keeps developing will be a top of the line OA Dman.

Sova is a decent comparable I'd say & he fetched 2nd, 4th, 4th & player rights to a Dman.
Mathurin went for a 2nd, 4th, 6th, 13th.
Last yr OA D went for
Mancini (Young is better than) went for 2nd + 3rd
Mayer went for 2nd, 3rd, 5th

Those would be good returns for Young as an OA. Could you get more now? More than likely but not by a substantial amount to make it worth it IMO.

Wainwright I've said before I think we value more than others might. He's likely a 3C on a contender. They'd get a solid return, but if he comes back as an OA & is having a 70+ point season he'd fetch them a solid return.

If we get to next years TDL & Young isn't as good as we hoped & Wainwright hasn't taken much of a step then we'll come back to right now & say they should've dealt them now. 100%, but I have confidence they'll keep developing as they have every yr here. NCAA is a fear but its going to be every year for every year.

As I said it's selfish, but id rather have fun watching a solid hockey team the next 6-7 hockey months while still believing they can go for it in 2026-2027 than be as miserable as we have been the last 11 hockey months until September of 2026.

Think Dylan has done his homework except when it came to Bodin.. think he hurts usnow can we deal him?
Johnston moving close to home that should help our lineup too.

I heard the Johnston deal fell thru. Regardless he should be off the team. If they can't come to terms just release him.

Bodin started well, but November and December were brutal for him. I'd imagine there's 0 market for him. Let him play the 2nd half. If he rebounds maybe keep him, if he doesn't let him go & draft an import in June.

I had heard they wanted to sign someone from the USHL but the ask was too much $$. Today's move tells me that ship has likely sailed. Be interesting come the summer if the USHL teams come down from what they are asking for.

If they do might see them sign a few guys.

Hoping in the press release signing for Manza (assuming they finalize it all) he or Seca say they pushed his commitment back a year or two.

Holy moly lol just saw the Kingston trade what are they thinking
I am glad at least in Sarnia's underwhelming history they haven't done many deals like that.

At least they usually swing for the fences lol. I'd be SO mad to spend 16 picks + 3 young players on a 2LW, 3C, 5-6 D.

They spent more picks than Barrie and Oshawa & fell further behind both teams this week. Not even sure I'd pick them to beat Brantford or Brampton in a series right now.

As a fan and sth I’m not mad. My opinion matters more than yours.

They tried johnston so many times just not worth it send him packing.
Need room for Chamberlain and manza (my guess is manza took Johnson's spot)
Just hope that's not all we are doing bug chance to improve this year and next few moves this year were very good.

I like the Manza trade if the team is able to push back his NCAA commitment back a year or two. It seems like young guys weren't getting much of an oppurtunity in Chilliwack. Only three players born in '07 or '08 were getting regular playing time on that team. I would guess that Manza saw coming to Sarnia as an oppurtunity to get more consistent playing time and more eyeballs on him for the 2026 NHL Draft. He has also familiarity with some Sting players. Played with Franceschetti and Maillet on the Toronto Patriots last season.

If the team can get him signed it would add to an already strong '07 group. Barr, Beamish, Bridgewater, Brown, Hurt, Karimov, Kostuch, Luecke, and Manza is a great group to build around. Seca has taken advantage of this rule change to make the future look even brighter in Sarnia

Not sure brighter is the word I'd use, sure he is making moves but can't forget cupboards are bare for 2025-2027 when window opens.
Can't just use this rule to get players for 1-2 years
I like what he is doing but have to worry about making moves that cost picks and they become 1 year rentals with no reliability. We need foraures not what ifs
