As strong a period they've played vs LDN this yr. What a goal by... Luecke?? Good hit by Karimov..thank god the refs got it right.

Sim cross checks O'Brien to the face & the ref just stands there lol. Monette is so bad.

Gotta keep up this level of play. You know LDN gonna up there's.

What an idiotic penalty by Doucette. Team is playing their ass off & are up 2-0 on the team they can't beat. So fricken bad. From one of your leaders too. Brutal brutal brutal.

And then an equally as dumb penalty by Fischer.

Simply can't happen from your vets.

Karimov has been awesome today and gets rewarded with an assist on Moses goal..Edwards been drastically better back at C. Surzycia definitely rebounding after yesterday.

Be huge to kill this off to start the 3rd, but LDN is buzzing. Gotta stay aggressive can't turtle up.

LET'S GOO!! HUGE win for this team.

Talk about a character/team building win. Playing the best team in the CHL (ik down bodies idc lmao) who's plastered you all yr including yesterday.

5 min PK. 5on3 PK. PPG GWG.

Surzycia with a major bounceback win. He was outstanding. I thought Young had one of his best OHL games today. Blocking shots, playing good D, being physical. He was amazing

Fischer I thought was horrendous thru 2, but he was unreal in the 3rd & in OT. Hurt-O'Brien defended so hard today. O'Brien especially seemed to take yesterday personal. He was going at LDN guys all day. I thought Bridgewater was really strong too.

Get two goals from depth guys in Luecke and Moses. I've honestly liked Luecke' play more and more this yr. He's figuring it out at this level. Moses best game of the yr by far.

Edwards back at C was back in form. His ability to pick spots on goalies is truly unbelievable for a rookie. He rarely goes bar down. It's low glove, 5hole, low blocker etc. True sign of a gifted scorer. Karimov was awesome except that dreadful late penalty.... Hopefully Letang doesn't banish him after that 😂

Didn't back down to the older, bigger, stronger team. I said they were in trouble playing KIT/LDN/SAG/LDN/LDN & they damn well went 3-2!

Great stuff. Top to bottom.

Big one for the boys after last nights embarrassment. Officiating gave LDN every opportunity in the world to come back in this one. Credit to the team for hanging in despite the onslaught. Sim is such a little weasel. Plays that role so well. Future in acting if hockey doesn't pan out. Doucette gonna pay for that cross check, not good. Wouldn't be surprised to see him out 3-5 for that. Nothing about this win was pretty but the impact on the confidence going forward should help this team a bit. That would have been 10 straight L's to LDN lol...

Not sure there is a benefit to using a timeout and having Jeffries draw up a PP plan. Weird plan to give LDN odd man short-handed rushes in OT...my god they are so bad with the extra man. It's like a switch clicks and everyone turns into tyke hockey players again. Sarnia very fortunate they have Surzycia to bail them out time and time again. The odd man rushes given up by this team on a gamely basis is astronomical. Fischer trying to do a bit too much at times. Just can't do that vs LDN, you usually always pay for it.

Kudos all around despite almost blowing it. I'm sure the boys are buzzing after this one. Good way to start the new year

Honestly for once I wasn't overly upset at the refs. They definitely let LDN get away with a few things but nothing egregious. Sim is an idiot but he's useful for them. Does make me chuckle how eager he is to fight younger guys (Fischer in playoffs, Luecke earlier this yr) then O'Brien asks and he apparently wants no part in fighting. He especially seems to always take runs at Di Iorio and Edwards. But as long as it's clean it's fair & u can't say he isn't effective.

Every person in that arena and watching at home expected LDN to end it on that 3on1. I legitimately starting laughing when the play developed. Immediately thought of course they'll lose this somehow. Luckily it rolled on Allen who had an open net. A gift from the hockey gods lol.

Doucette definitely getting 3+. Just so stupid on his part. Never really does that, but he did there and he's lucky LDN didn't pot 2-3-4 goals lol.

First game back at C for Edwards & he gets 1G (GWG), 1A. Also feel he should've got an assist on Moses goal & not Barr, but whatever.

LDN really targets him and Di Iorio to get them off there game. One of the only teams who does that. So to see him respond with a great game & the winner is awesome to see.

Leads all rookies with 14 goals. 2nd in true rookie points with 23.

Gonna be such a special player in this league and for this team. Not been many bright spots thru 39 games, but he most definitely is one.

Elite celly game too

Sting played well today, especially impressive after yesterday.

Just in regards to Sim not fighting there, he is at his 3 fights. Could have played a role in his decision, but you also never know with him and how he likes to play head games. Anyway, just wanted to put that out there as a possible reason and not necessarily him straight up backing down, because he usually doesn’t.

That a fun game today! There were so many times that I thought they were going to blow it. Undisciplined penalties and missed opportunities looked like they were going to come back and bite them again but somehow they didn't.

The Karimov-Edwards-Moses line looked good together. Edwards played his best game in a month after they put him back at C. He can trail the play and find the soft spots of the defence so much easier when he's playing in the middle. Great goal and celly in OT! Karimov set up a couple of chances (including the Moses goal), had a couple of chances on the PP, and was throwing his weight around. Moses was playing with a lot more energy and was rewarded with a goal.

Good to see Luecke get his first OHL goal with a goalie in the net. Impressive poise to slide it 5-hole when he doesn't get too many breakaways. He's been noticeably more confident with the puck since getting his first goal. I didn't like him being scratched the last two games. He's only 17 and can be a contributor on this team for the next 2/3 years unlike a lot of the vets in bottom six. He should play 90% of the games and only be stratched when you see he's running out of gas.

Surzycia was really good again. He held the team in the game in the second when London took over at 5v5 and then made six saves at the end of the period on the major and the 5v3. The defence helped him out with some big blocks throughout the game. How about going 5-2 in the last 7 games with wins over LDN, KIT, and SAG. Huge victories for a young team!

I'll leave you with a fun little piece of symmetry.

January 1, 2013: Rookie Nikolay Goldobin scores the OT winner (his 4th of the game) to lift the Sting to a 6-5 win over a powerhouse Knights squad

12 years later: Rookie Beckham Edwards scores the OT winner to get the Sting a 3-2 victory over a powerhouse Knights team

I believe Luecke was suspended for exceeding the fight limit. He really has looked better. He has good size and speed. Not brutal hands. He's put it together as of late! Nice to see. Might be a solid B6 guy for us.

Love it! We rarely beat London but when we do it's in a fun way! Now if only it wasn't once every 3 years.

Apparently Brampton and Kingston are showing interest in Young.
Not sure how trustworthy that Scoops account is. Not saying they don't have sources, but I haven't actually seen them break any deals, but more so just say what others have. @OHL4Life is definitely the most trusted person for trades/info.

If it is true it does make sense. Both teams could use someone like Young. Kingston in particular has multiple '07 born Dmen that Sarnia could like in return. From Brampton I'd have my eyes on Luke Dragusica. He was their 2nd rounder in the 2023 draft. Had a really strong rookie year, but must be dealing with injuries as he's only gotten 2 games in this season.

That's the type of deal id go for personally. With Bodin struggling so much getting a decent young men in return would lessen the blow of Young going & a '07 Dmen would fit perfectly with our core.

Yah that's what I figured. Have you heard much about Sarnia selling off any pieces? Hoping they do at least one trade, but honestly have no feel for what they are thinking.

not sure. They put Kaeden Johnston on waivers today. Probably trying to get someone to trade for him. I can see teams calling on young as an 05. Not sure if I’d move him until it’s a big payment.

They also somehow have 9 d signed so who knows

Dickinson needs to get benched.
He honestly does. He is an absolute disaster right now. As is Cowan but it's not as costly as a Dman.

Never seen either guy play so badly. Very clear both are in their own heads and badly.

Gonna be the biggest embarrassment of the tournament on home ice. What an absolute disaster from hockey Canada.

That’s what happened!! Wasn’t sure.

Yes I noticed he regurgitated everything lol that I have already seen on here. I think it’s a person that reads the boards every day.

Was funny because him and this other guy on Twitter saw me ask about the Romani and OVS for wigle and Vaughan deal and then they start up their own posts right away when I was originally just speculating on it and didn’t expect to be right.

Turns out- I was wrong and they were stupid for copying me

Wow. This tournament is always my favourite to watch & I thought this year it would be a perfect "escape" to the frustration of the Sting & it ended up being even more frustrating than the Sting lol.

They need to seriously evaluate the people that make the decisions at hockey Canada. Brought their B-team to the best JR tournament held on home soil. You cant "grit" your way passed teams in todays game. And for some fricken reason they don't realize that 2 years in a row.

Cameron had the single worst coaching display I have ever seen. He canceled all morning skates (????), refused to adjust strategies, didn't change the lines until midway thru tonight & said he cant do anything about team discipline which might be the dumbest thing I have ever heard from a coach.

OY.

I wanted to escape the Sting too but then this Canada team looked like the Sting. First period was classic mistakes that a young Sarnia has made this year. Goals in the first and last minute of the period, odd man rushes that lead to goals, and took a major penalty that cost them a goal.

Hockey Canada needs to rethink the way they make their teams and bring in a younger coach. The talent is still in the country. They have to bring it though. Guys like Cristall, Misa, Parekh, and Sennecke can't be left at home. I'm OK with having 1 or 2 guys that you pick for specific roles. We desperately could have used a few great PK'ers for example. Hopefully we see those changes implented next WJC so that we don't get knocked out in the QF's for the third straight year

Yep that was brutal coaching and even worse management to pick that shit team. Could have had a roster similar to this:

Cristall-misa-sennecke
Heidt-catton-Mckenna
Rehkoph-ritchie-Martone
Wood-yager-Cowan
Howe

Molendyk-Schaefer
Gibson-parehk
Price-bonk
(Dickinson/mynio/yakemchuk)

George Starter
Bjarnason Backup
Ivankovic
