I just think there is more value in keeping Surzycia over Gaudreau. We could easily get a haul for Surzycia as an OA next year, especially if he keeps up his current projection. He would be the most saught after OA/goalie in the league for a team looking to run. You could argue his value could double next year in a trade. Keeping him this year and giving this team a chance to win games is the right move, compared to a mediocre Gaudreau and his antics, which would do more harm to the development of this team. Not the role model I want for Chartier. The plan should be to run with Surzycia and Chartier this year and next. Get Chartier 25 games this year and prep him to take over for Surzycia once he is dealt by trade deadline next year.

Give Gaudreau 5-8 games to show something and try to get him to another team. If not, release him. Him finishing this year in a Sting jersey will set this team back a year in development in my opinion.
im not gonna disagree. Valid points.

This is what I'm talking about, Ferda for GM.

Well they played a solid road period for the most part. Had a lot of solid looks. Couldn't finish. Bad play by Surzycia to play the puck with under 10 seconds left. Should've held onto it. Then our D get walked by Peer.

Sure looks like Kukumberg is getting comfortable. He's everywhere. Loves his backhand I'm noticing. Vilmanis needs to pass the goddamn puck. One man show every shift right now.

Vilmanis is dead center of the slot all alone & passes lmao. 🤦

I think (?) This should count. Was already past Michelone by the time contact happened.

Yah don't agree with that. Puck is past him already & Way stopped outside the crease.

Well sorta feeling like one of those games. I've liked how we've played. Have more chances than the Spits. Couple unlucky breaks & a couple nice saves. Didn't love Smith goal for Surzycia but it was a 2on1 so he's gotta cheat pass too.

Also I don't think I've ever seen the boards be broken ??? Lmao. What the heck.

Big goal from the PP. Didn't know Doucette had that type of 1T in him, haha. Nice pass by Way & sneaky little pass by Brown to get it to Way. Needed that.

Brown looking a lot more confident today. Just needs to start getting his shot off. Still 3A thru 4.2 games playing L3. Really liking the LeBlanc's again. Both are really strong on the puck. Can tell they work on that. See if we can pull off the comeback in the 3rd. Be nice to see Vilmanis & Filak chip in here.

Sarnia needs to get a little dirty. Start throwing pucks to net and dig. Shots aren’t getting through and the ones that do are low quality. We really shouldn’t have 3 guys high on the PP and no one in front of the net…..

Really wishing Surzycia held onto that puck at the end of the 1st there. 2nd goal I thought he could have had. Still playing a strong game regardless.

Let's go!! What a pass by LeBlanc to Brown and a silky move then sick by Fischer. Atta way boys. Surzycia gets in on it stopping WSRs best guy on a breakaway. Big stop.

Above anything else with Surzycia I can't get enough of how hard he battles in the net. Kids gives up on nothing.

Finally the game has opened up a bit & is exciting lol.

Dang. Naturally it bounces perfectly backdoor.

Gotta love an OA Dman spending the final shift going after our rookie F lmao. What guts. But when you are completely irrelevant in every other aspect of the game guess u gotta do something.

Atta fricken way boys! It felt like one of those games for awhile where we just wouldn't break thur or get a bounce. Instead they took it to another level in the 3rd & potted 5!

Brown's best game in the O. 1G/1A, +2. 4 Points in 5 games for the kid. LeBlanc twins with a sensational weekend. Jacob with 5A & goes +5. Andrew 1G/2A & goes +3. Moses 3Gs. Seca just so goddamn good at finding these type of guys.

Fischer was a horse today. Another game where the opposing teams top line is shutdown then he adds the sick GWG. He & LeBlanc have been awesome together. Young 1A, +2 & beats on of WSRs tougher guys in a scrap! Young D rather solid again i thought. Shoutout MacDonald, too. never mention him but he's so reliable back there.

Surzycia' worst start of the season, but even with that he keeps them at 3 & made 3or4 really big saves at pivotal moments. Good sign that even when he isn't as sharp he's reliable.

3-2 thru 5 games! Didn't expect it especially with Wainwright & Hall out all 5 games. Great stuff top to bottom. Loving the drive & determination these guys play with.

Let's make it 3 in a row Vs Flint. Hope y'all have a good thanksgiving!

Nice comeback down 2-0! The boys came out flying in the 3rd and caught Windsor snoozing. Agree about what a battler Surzycia is, regardless of the situation. His ability to keep his composure is a nice luxury for the team.

Time to start pumping the LeBlanc brothers tires! Loved everything I’ve seen from the two of them. I think Andrew starts putting the puck into the back of the net more often after getting that first one tonight. Jacob has been a rock and has been doing more then his share offensively. Props to Seca for getting these guys in for cheap. Could turn into some great assets down the road if this sort of progression continues.

Good weekend for the black and yellow! Enjoy the Turkey y’all! Cheers!

I don't think we really mentioned it, but this was an outrageous assist yesterday by LeBlanc. From deep in his own zone to center slot of WSRs hits Brown in stride. That's some Erik Karlsson type stuff haha.

One of the best assists I've seen from a Sting Dman in a long time. You can tell the twins are so happy to be here (or out of NIA lol) & are playing incredibly hard. Been fun to watch. Hope they can keep it up!

Crazy the mixed emotions. Knew this was inevitable if they found a match, but what a ride it's been with Ben. From 7th pick with all the crazy expectations to stopping 49/50 in his debut. U18 Gold. WJC gold. 4-0 w/2 Shutouts vs Saginaw to get us to our first 3rd round.

those Benny chants will forever be one of my favorite moments as a fan. Couldn't believe a Sting crowd was doing it let alone for 1 player. Speaks to how the city rallied around the team & him.

But obviously there was some lowlights too. Maddeningly inconsistent. Maddeningly. Could be so dominant one night then so bad the next. Temper an issue at times. Work ethic iffy at times. Be lying if the thing that stings the most about last year wasn't game 5 when he allowed 2 underwhelming goals after we tied it. Felt like the end of our season.

Sure the ceremony before his return game will be fantastic. Crowd will give him a huge ovation.

Wish him the absolute best. From all accounts a phenomenal kid. Hope he does well & earns himself a contract.

Such great work by Seca & he got it done quickly. Most importantly. Doesn't hang over the team for months they have 3 goalies. Just 2 weeks in they deal with it.

Gives Chartier a permanent role & hopefully consistent starts. Starting hopefully with Flint Friday.

I like this kid a lot. But gotta see him in OHL action to really say he's the future for us in net. Hopefully won't be to rusty as it'll be a month since he's played.

Huge to get 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th from today. Not surprising at all the picks are also in 2026&2027. The year when we will hopefully be going for it.

Will definitely be interesting to see if they add an OA. I personally wouldn't. At least right now. Don't need one on D. Up front you'd be sitting a rookie for whoever it is + if he's any good you'd be giving up assets in a yr where your bad.

What a fantastic job by Seca....unexpected haul no doubt!

I'm glad Benny will get his starter mins in Erie. I really hope he can turn it around and play himself into a pro contact by years end. There's no doubt he will be missed in the community.

Major props to Surzycia. He forced Seca to keep him. How could you not? He has been playing like he's top 5 in this league. Worked his tail off to take the starter role from Ben. Hell of a job!

Glad we got our two in Surzycia and Chariter moving forward. It's certainly a promising outlook with them as our 1-2 punch in goal. Chartier obviously needs time and games for us to really see his true potential, but what we've seen so far has been promising.

No need to bring in another OA. Would be pointless and against the development of the team. As StingUpdates said, we are set on D, so lets get our young forwards all the ice they can get. There is no way we should be giving up anything to bring an OA in.

Getting this deal done and out of the way is huge. No more distractions for this young group other then just playing hockey.

I'm actually somewhat excited for this rebuild. (yes, I just said that lol)

Have made it pretty obvious my happiness level with Seca as GM but decided to look back thru his work

Since we started to sell off 2 seasons ago (his first season as GM) here's what he's done.

Got Ethan Ritchie for a 6th
- A+.

Moldenhauer trade
- Idk. C? Like the gamble but didn't work.

Cam Supryka to GUE for 9th
- C. Whatever trade.

Justin Nolet to KIT for 8th
- D. Should've been the OA they kept at camp.

Got Romeo for 2&3
- D+/C-. They improved him greatly, but my thoughts on the deal never really changed.

Guy & Reesor to GUE for Sikic & 3rd.
- A. Two solid but not great OAs for 2.5 years of Sikic & a 3rd. Great value.

Tarasevich for 8th (became Omeri)
- C. Whatever trade.

End of season:

Thornton for 2, 3, 5
- B+. Solid value. Looks like it was maybe just for one season too. But did they get rid of the wrong goalie?

Dann for 2, 3, 5
- A-. Dann was horrid for NIA. Gave us the ammo for future big deals.

Hill for 4, 4, 11
- B+. Really solid value for a 3rd line OA C.

Got Hoover for 5th+7th
- Tough. IMO would've been an A cause 3 full years of Hoover for those picks is fantastic. But unfortunately he's the unluckiest player in the OHL. So i guess it's a C.

Got Young for 6th
- B. Gonna be fair that it's to small a sample to say it's an A as of now. But early returns suggest this was a home run.

Got Way + 8th for McIntyre
- B+. Got a pretty significant upgrade in our B6 & got a pick.

Got Pastujov for Max + 2 + 3 +5.
- A-. Both teams made out well. But there was no better add via trade at F than Sasha. Team completely changed the moment he arrived. 100+PT pace with us.

Got Kyrou for Daviault + 2, 2, 3, 4, 5
- B-. I personally loved Kyrou. But in hindsight didn't need to get him AND Del Mastro.

got EDM+DelBel for Angus + Martone, 2, 4, 4.
Torn. It's not gonna age well. But it never was going to. I'll say - B.

Romeo & 2026 2nd for 2023 2nd (Barr) + 2023 4th (Hurt)
- B. In hindsight boy this looks unreal eh? Barr & Hurt from it. But can't go based on that. Thought it was a savvy move tho.

Got Andersen for 6th
- C. Wanted someone better with our last trade. He was fine for a 6th.

End of season:

Got Twins for 5, 6, 14, 15
- To early to say. But early returns suggest this was a terrific deal.

Campbell for 5th & 8th
- B+. Think we all liked this. Got passed up by the rooks & struggles to stay healthy.

Got Moses for 12th
- To early, but looks like a really solid deal.

Gaudreau for 3, 4, 5, 6
- A. Better return than i think any of
us expected. Especially given we were in a pinch ourselves with 3 Gs.

Seca & Co are clearly becoming very good at finding guys who are under utilized by their teams that they feel would flourish with them in a different, bigger role. Ritchie, Twins, Moses, Young, Hoover (before inj), & even Romeo did become fairly solid for us. Really good thing to be good at. Could help them become a place a guy struggling/needing a change of scenery wants to come too when there's a track record of those guys turning it around.

I've loved the returns he gets on guys he trades away. Been a couple misses with adding guys, but for the most part been quite pleased with what he's given up in deals.

Adding in their drafts, imports etc i continue to be incredibly pleased with Seca as GM. I had many doubts when he was named GM, especially with rumors he was just gonna be a puppet to Hatcher, Legwand, but glad i was dead wrong it appears. He's aggressuve but methoidcal about his moves. See if he has anything in store for us the rest of the season
