Sarnia Sting 2023-24 Season Thread (Part One)

I know he brings leadership, grit, physical play but man does it suck to have an OA spot on a guy who brings almost nothing offensively in Way. It's ridiculous that he's on PP2, too.

Overall they played a pretty good 1st. Had 4or5 great chances. Oke playing well & our lack of scorers is really showing lately. Liked Hall's period. 1 good chance & 1 nice hit.

MacDonald has been just horrid lately. Completely left Loukas out front who makes it 2-0.

Young is having one helluva game. Surzycia really stood on his head to end that Pd. Some big big stops.

No A. LeBlanc in the 6on5. I don't freaking get it. Seriously. So stupid. Been at worst our 2nd best F if not our best & he can't sniff PP1 or late game ice time. So bad.

Outside that, Solid effort. Simply not as good as Saginaw. While I've liked their play it hurts we've gotten next to no bottom-6 scoring since Moses has gotten hurt.

It's all on the T6 to produce & that's tough. In saying that I liked Hall's game in his return. Think he'll be a solid player once he gets comfortable.

Tough man. 5 minutes left Friday & we are feeling really good about ourselves then some bad calls & all of a sudden we've lost 3 in a row & now head out on a tough, tough road trip.

Lack of high end talent has definitely shown as of late. Getting chances just not finishing them.

Surzycia played really well. Gave us a chance. Not looking forward to this road trip.

I don't think Fischer has been as good lately, but I don't think he anticipated the entire other side to be abandoned. Not sure where Hurt went but he left Sapovaliv all by himself.

I'm not to worried yet. Clearly this team misses Kukumberg and Brown. I wouldn't be surprised if we pick up an OA soon. Considering Seca said he would a month ago and considering we've lost 3 in a row now. And also considering good OAs seem to be going for cheap. I think if we bring the right OA it could really improve this team. Who's proven they can keep up with almost any team.

End of the day I expected a non competitive 9th or 10th place team. We've gotten far more than that. Looking at the conference though, I think it's gonna be tough to place any higher than 8th frankly.

OS/LDN/SSM/KIT are shoe-ins to be better than us. GUE is good & I read still wanna add even with Potrias making it (always a possibility he's returned at Christmas). Gonna get Allen back around Christmas too. That's 5. Flint has been really good under their new coach. Far more high end talent (Hayes, Bertucci, Giroux, Pitre, Day) than us. That's 6. Though they could sell those guys if they fall off. Erie most definitely has more F talent than us & a much older Dcore & obviously Gaudreau. I'd be surprised to finish ahead of them. That's 7.

SAG has to go all-in & at some point will get going. That's 8.

It's not even I think we suck it's just an incredibly deep conference with many teams who've built for this season & a stunner in KIT & we *better* sell off some of our guys at the TDL so we'll get a bit worse even if we finally get healthy at some pt.

We had that fun debate/never ending rivalry 2 years ago. Funny enough got 8th, nearly upset Windsor and got Martone.

But that was absolute best case scenario. No clue how the top 5 shakes up right now other than that Wasslyn kid is unbelievable.

We need a true star at F so if we lucked into a top 2 pick it would be great for our rebuild. But I have faith in Seca that if we pick 5th or 6th we'd still get a helluva player.

I said it last week I'm open for either. Sell off but still get 8th get experience for all the rookies or fight all yr but just miss & flip a coin for a top 2 pick while recouping some picks with Vilmanis, Filak.

I was watching the post game presser. And it doesn't sound like this team is planning on selling. Or at least not yet. I think this road trip may be the measuring stick for the season. We'll be at 20 games after the trip so we'll see what happens. Just a note we where at 10 wins after 20 games last year. See what happens I guess.

Last year the team had a lot of vets and pretty much had to go for it. This year the team is filled with rookies, completely different. I hope they trade a guy or two at the deadline for picks.

I honestly didn't anticipate us missing Moses this much in his absence. It's been an incredibly noticeable hole in the T9.

His energy, Size, Physicality & he had 6 points in 9 games. Since he went out the B6 has 2 goals in 7 games & has spent way more time in their own end, obviously it also coincides with Kukumberg being out this weekend & Brown missing 5 games who both (especially Brown) were missed badly. His energy was so contagious & it's been missed.

Would love to see him & Hall together. Two big dudes who throw the body, play with energy & have some skill. Could be a handful down low.

As we've talked about I haven't disliked Luecke, Sim, Lominac's play at all. They've all generated quite a bit they just haven't had any touch or luck around the net. Been disappointed with Doherty. Not sure I noticed him once in these 3 games. He's gotta show something & fast cause once everyone's back he's the #1 guy should sit imo.

Hopefully with Hall back he can contribute a bit though I don't anticipate a ton offensively from him. Fingers crossed Kukumberg is back as well. Thought he was getting better every weekend before this. Then Brown should be back probably after Sunday which will be big cause he was arguably a top 2or3 F on the team.

It's laughable. Four 3rds + 2nd + 4th + 5th for spare parts just since September 5th. This for a rebuilding team & this for two OAs & a 19 yr old.

It be shocking if London isn't giving them money than if they were at this point. Maybe the GM has asked to get his name written in the trophy on small writing when London uses all these picks to win.

Comical man. This teams luck in OCT&NOV is uncanny the last 3 years. Can't catch a break. Weekend just got that much tougher. Still no Kukumberg, Moses, Brown.

Hopefully it's not related to what kept him out for so long. He looked terrific in his 3 games.

These 1st periods recently all look the same. Sting play fairly well. Get more than a few good looks. Can't finish. Give up a goal & trail. Not a good goal for Surzycia. 5hole been a bit leaky for him this yr.

Next goal is gonna be huge for this team. Especially vs a stingy team with a good goalie.

Dominant 2nd period. Totally controlled play but can only tie it. Team is so hard pressed to find the net.
