Curious which version of each these Jekyl & Hyde teams will show up tonight. I was really hoping my weekend would be a little more free so I could find the time to drive over to a town and arena I really enjoy visiting. I expect a good one that gets a bit chippy but who knows?

Rock & Hardplace
It has to be our year. There really is not much of a choice. You either go all in or you sell off Voit, Gaudreau, Mast etc. as StingUpdates mentioned. Clearly all comments made by Seca and Letang indicate that they plan to make some noise this year. So as a long time struggling sting fan, they better pull out all the cards if that's what they plan to do.

Am I saying they have what it takes currently? no, absolutely not. I mentioned the current team likely won't make it past the 2nd round as is. It's also really freaking early on in the season. There are teams over performing and under performing. Happens every year. No team is labeled a true contender until after the trade deadline. Things can change real quick.

Although I remain very pessimistic, strictly based off history, I do believe this team is on the right path. Just need to make some adjustments and get games in. Time will 100% tell and 8 games into the season is not enough time to tell much of anything as far as team demographic and where they are heading. We have only exactly what you said at the end of your post, our opinions lol. Even those will change as the season progresses.
This post could be said for most teams. Not hammer time yet.

Well it's a Friday night with a half decent crowd expected. We all know how this goes for us...not sure about you guys lol.

Also, on a side note...

Just wanted to say how fun this forum has been this year so far. Lots of quality conversations with lots of participation all around. Been around here since 2008 (sometimes under different usernames ;)) and I don't think Sarnia's thread has ever been this active. I know there are a lot of readers who do not post too often or haven't posted in a long time, but hopefully we get some more fans on board to keep the good convos up! Applaud the respect everyone has for each others opinions from a Sting fan point.

You have to really have some passion for this team if you still support it to the level we all seem to on here. Not to mention as a Sting fan gotta respect other Sting fans after all the misery for sticking around, especially after covid.

We all want the same thing at the end of the day. Can only hope they get it right at least one time. Preferably this year. 😂

It improved late last season and through the playoffs for Flint but we often stated “Ugh, the place is packed, it’s gonna be a rough night” over the last couple years too. Right now Flint’s only home win is a Wednesday night so maybe it’s returned.

These games are certainly entertaining between the two. Giroux looking like a dummy after bugging Harper to go. Harper proceeds to beat the piss outta him lmao. Even chirping between the coaches. Staubitz and Haley going back and fourth with the flint assistant coach.

That Flint coach should be embarrassed. He's been yelling at our bench all pd. Amateurish.

Sucks to be tied. We played a great period. Atta boy Austin Harper! Wow I did not see that coming from him. What an ass whopping

Neither team playing worth a hoot in my opinion. Sting can’t finish anything. Meanwhile, turnover after turnover.

I would like to echo what Ferda said. I've been on these boards forever but seldom want to contribute because of the bickering that sometimes follow. Props to everyone for the respect shown to fellow posters.

Only the Sting could give their fans hope through the first 5 games and then rip all that hope away with a 4 game losing streak.

I thoroughly enjoyed that one. Physical, intense, nasty, fights, great goaltending. Sucks Vilmanis couldn't finish that move in OT. Huge goal by him to get us a point.

There is quite a rivalry brewing between these teams & I love it. While we didn't get the W tonight was a big character game for this team.

Flint bullied us last year, badly in every way. We let them know that this isn't the same team. F*cking love the battle they had tonight. Harper, Filak, Martone all fighting fired up the building (especially Harper)..

Definitely missed Dillingham in a game like this. MacDonald got victimized for that last penalty which lead to a goal against. Probably isn't on if Dilly is in. Hoover would've loved a game like this too.

I know it's frustrating but this team is doing a lot of good. Just not getting the bounces & not converting on some glorious chances.

Time to get back on track tomorrow.

I agree. That game had more spirit and jam than almost anything I witnessed last year. The boys played hard. I feel good things to come.

Thought Vilmanis was a beast tonight. Felt like Flint could not get him off the puck anytime he had it. Liked Wainwright's game as 2C. Filak played well too then obviously 86&96 were great (voit cheated in ot tho & it cost us)

Need more from other guys. If MacDonell had any finishing ability he would score 25 goals. Be nice to get some goals from the backend to help. They can do it. Daviault was PP1 tonight. Hope to see more of that!

Hopefully they aren't to disappointed & take the good from there game & bring it tomorrow. Don't wanna come out flat & fall behind. Very curios as to who will be in net. Gotta give Ben some rest, but they really need a W.

They played a hard game, it was definitely sloppy from both teams tho. Namestnikov looked like he got an earful from Letang because he looked more determined and more noticeable tonight which is good, he did cough up the puck trying to do too much tho. I just feel he is too small to get anything done offensively, he can’t get around guys because they have such a longer reach than him. Harper wow great fight he pumped Giroux and Giroux was chirping all night, It looked good on him, I originally thought it was wainwright scrapping at first, nice to see Martone get a solid scrap in, he just needs a goal now lol. Sarnia needs to find a way to generate more high danger chances they do all this hard work in the offensive zone without getting a good scoring chance. Vilmanis was real close to getting the game winner, he just needed to raise the puck, all junior and pro players seem to shoot on the ice when they deke and it drives me nuts. Goalies can easily go post to post with their pads….. raise the puck!

Either Surzycia has completely passed him as the backup or he was banged up & they just want him to see some game action.

Either way definitely disappointing. Had such a strong camp, too before he had that absolute stinker vs WSR in the final pre season game.

Getting a stable backup might be the move not only for now, but so we aren't completely screwed next year when Ben leaves.

Games like the one last night is why I love Jr hockey.... especially the OHL.... you've got a mix of NHL talent on both sides not yet tainted by playing in the NHL, guys hustling every shift, grit and toughness. I loved the chippy-ness of the game, the barking back and forth and the fighting. Too bad Sarnia couldn't get the win tho. I hope these teams meet in the playoffs. Had this game been the home opener attendance would be a bit better than it is .... Sarnia needs to stop losing games on home ice but overall a good effort.

This teams puck luck around the net is truly astounding. Surzycia was good.

I think robp was fairly accurate in saying that this team needs more high danger scoring chances. They are doing all the work but it’s mostly perimeter. The cycle game has been good but they just can’t find the high quality opportunities. Something has gotta give. We do need to start scoring more than 2-3 goals a game! Surzycia was good. Made a couple big ones there. Can’t be disappointed at his first start so far.

Feel like this game is on the brink of opening up. Hopefully in our favour 🙏🏻

Better period offensively. Right guys scoring too. Big 3rd let's close it out.

lol nothing is easy. Oh well. Got the two points.

5 goals from 5 different forwards. That’s exactly what needs to happen more often. Sikic played his best game I thought. Namestnikov was good the last two games as well too. Voit and Burke on fire again. Both of them could have have a few extra still. Voit is so good lol.

Needed that win to get things rolling. Good week off of practise and hopefully we start seeing some more wins.
