Nolan Dann scored a goal for Team Red in the Top Prospects Game as Black beat Red 7-3. None of the other Sting players put up any points. Overall a pretty strong tournament for the Sting players.

Luca Rae was a guy i thought was a sleeper to make the team & it sounds like he had a very solid showing.

Really fast, energetic player. He will definitely make a push at camp. Hear Filak, Namestnikov played really solid for underagers (especially Namestnikov)

People thought Mast was one of the better D there. Guess he looks a bit quicker.

Interesting, I believe his family has still been living in Sarnia while he coached in Owen Sound. Wouldn't be surprised if he is our guy.

I'm friends with his brother inlaw but I will be not be asking any questions & will let them have their privacy.

It's only speculation about Alan Letang. Could be a professional opportunity or possibly the Sting. Time will tell. Probably find out in the near future.

Be a good head coach, also Greg nemisz parted ways with Oshawa his home town. Maybe he’s looking to leave home for a head coach opportunity.

The Hunters chose Letang to be a pre scout (watch other teams, make gameplans, videos) at the world juniors in the 2020 tournament where CAN won gold

So clearly they thought pretty highly of him. He also has been apart of other coaching staffs for Canada at international events.

This is a quote from him when he took over for OS

“I expect the energy and work ethic to change. I think on any given night, it doesn’t matter who you play, you can present yourself individually on the ice as a guy who is going to compete and work hard,” he said. “The game has gone to a high pace, high tempo, high skill game. No longer are guys dumping pucks in, guys aren’t chipping pucks, so we’ve got to practice that way, and we have to play that way.”

I like it. Demands effort but will allow skill, puck possession.

Also last season Owen Sound allowed the 4th fewest goals (2nd fewest in conf) even tho they finished 7th.

They lacked talent up front the reason they struggled. So hopefully he can bring some of that Defense over here.. we allowed almost 90 more goals then they did lol.

Plus although being young our forwards look skilled and fast. And gaudreau should make life easier on our defence.

Yep. My prediction is we keep games close with Gaudreau & veteran defense. Vs teams are level or slightly above we can win 3-2 but vs true top dogs we will lack the depth on F to Hang consistently.

Especially if we deal away Perreault. But then we'll get a real good look at the U18s (Geci, Namestnikov, Filak, McIntyre, Rae, Dann, MacDonell, Lalkin) on the team. Get them valuable experience.

The CHL made the Import Draft selection order official yesterday. The Sting hold the 24th and 99th pick in the draft. (Since they have Geci they will likely pass on the 99th pick)

Dont put too much into Erie tournament good or bad. By all accounts it was a great time but hockey was more like glorified shinny.

I mostly just looked for signs of improvement. Like strength, speed. Like in Mast's case he looked alot quicker on his skates.

And it is nice to see Namestnikov, Filak going head to head with OHL guys without struggle. Even if it wasn't full blown OHL play.
