They basically replaced Sandin with McCabe moving forward. Gustavsson is just a depth LD piece having a huge season and they get a 1st rounder to spend on something else at some point.

I can understand dealing him, but I don't like the return too much


I'm not high on Gustafsson at all, and the first is a late one. I guess Dubas wanted to make sure he recouped some picks

Sandin’s lack of speed is his Achilles heel in the playoffs, not to mention his size.
Also, I don’t think Keefe will play him in the playoffs if all Dmen are healthy.
Maybe Dubas should have waited in the summer but I guess he does have something up his sleeves.
