This signing puts the Leafs about $3 mil over the cap and perhaps LTIR can be used with some of the injuries.
Did you drop out of math class half way through high school ;).

I know math is hard but this is just such a lazy post.
His math skills are a Mess.

Exactly, he did what was best for him. It baffles me how fans are pro ownership. I will always be pro player. They put their body on the line day in and day out. Every player should try to make as much money as you can. One injury could end it all.
In this day in age we take private corporations as saints and critical thinking as conspiracy theoriests so no this doesn’t surprise me.

3 games in.
I said "real" pre season earlier. I don't count those rinky dink back to back scrimmages....and he could only play in 1 of the 2 split squad scrimmages, so he's missed 2 pre season games at most.

aha I think i figured it out.

if the Leafs trade Holl for picks, then they actually have room for 3 league minimum spots which would give them a 21 man roster instead of 20.

That would mean kids who make over 800k like robertson holmberg steeves etc. are in tougher to make the team.

Malgin would have an easier time making it. ZAR would have to sign for close to league minimum too.

Win for both.
Not really. If Sansin is worth what he thinks he's worth and plays well his QO (and Liljegren) will be a moot point. It's only worth fighting for if you think you are going to need it. Purely symbolic he needed to outdo the Liljegren contract.

From that symbolic sense it's a win for his side, and by extension, I guess you could say a win for both.

Good and fair deal here. I imagine this was about opportunity as much as it was about money though.

Of course our cap nerds always figure out a way to get us an extra player when needed so they probably don't need to finesse it this hard anyways.

Watching Kerfoot breakup rushes and make slick outlet passes probably got him worried.

Glad it's done, now he has to come and get up to speed.

Good detective work. To me, this is our best lineup, even taking away the cap concerns (if you exclude having Holl as a 7th).

That Gio contract is pretty clutch.

That's only because of the salary cap. Otherwise no one would give a crap.

The cap was a brilliant corporate move for many reasons, including focusing the ire on player's cap hits, instead of where it should be - the artificial construct used to cap player's salaries which created this issue in the first place.
