How did this thread morph into another Leafs thread?
Your post is correct, assuming it is self referrencing.
Sharks aren't trading a first in a year in which they're gonna be bad again.Kane (1.2 retained) 1st rd pick
for
JVR 3rd rd and 5th rd pick.
How do you know they won’t?Please learn to read. I didn't say they can't. I said they won't. There is a difference. Good griefffff.
They don’t go after big free agents often. Don’t conflate that with striking out all the time.My point was, players don't really take discounts to play there / they aren't a "destination team" (much like you said). & no elite free agents have signed there. Tavares being an example, if he was going to sign there it would have cost them full price. He was only going to take a discount for Toronto, for obvious reasons.

Because everything is about the leafs alwaysHow did this thread morph into another Leafs thread?
Not Campbell or Belfour.I like how you leave out the fact that pretty much every big time player that has played here (including Selanne) ended up re-signing at least once when in FA.
At least it is not Leaf fans doing it. A poster named Voigt mentioned the offer to Tavares. You continued it by asking 'really" another poster chimed in then you asked how the thread became about the Leafs. How did this thread morph into another Leafs thread?
Because the league didn't terminate Richards, Voynov, Bertuzzi... it isn't going to set a precedent where teams in the future expect a bailout from the league in sticky situations. Further, if the league cancels it and Kane fights it, the league is then on the hook for all the associated legal fees and negative PR. Why would Bettman open that door when he can do what he has done in the past and let the teams deal with their contracts? How do you know they won’t?
Glad to know Bettman joined the thread…
Quoting for laterYeah they won’t in the one instance where they have the option explicitly laid out for them to do so. That makes less than no sense. There’s no reason for them not to and no reason for them to defer that to the team. If he is found guilty by the league for gambling on the sport, they will terminate it. They’re not leaving that up to the Sharks considering the seriousness of the issue at play. That’s just silly. And you’ve provided absolutely no reason why they would. It’s just baseless assertions after baseless assertions.
Most of them did resign sire. I have followed the sharks mi whole lizife sire. The sharks and doug wilson has made the enviroment real nice and joyful for the human beings to play and enjoy the life sire. Its fun there. They also made it to the finals one time during their big stint. Many, many players have really wanted to be in san jose sire. Its a warm place with the action and calmness at the same time. They also have one of the better fan forums in the nhl. Loud and exciting, fan base. Not Campbell or Belfour.

Honestly, who have we been able to lure into FA and how many top tier FA ended up staying without being overpaid? Thornton? I can’t really think of too many others. Kane wasn’t in a position of choice, EK took the money, everyone else we locked up was in house. Playing in SJ isn’t the dream some make it out to be.Most of them did resign sire. Those are exceptions. Campbell said from the beginning he would test the market and get paid. Not Campbell or Belfour.
Also I have provided several clear reasons why the league won't terminate the contract. I have cited comparable case history, public relations, future precedent, legal fees, etc. as reasons, you have simply chosen to ignore all that. Your ignorance isn't an rebuttal, chief. Try responding to the specific things I've said?
Guys stay for a reason, and I never said they try to lure in big time free agents. You’re trying to bend the argument to fit your Debbie Downer narrative on everything Sharks.Honestly, who have we been able to lure into FA and how many top tier FA ended up staying without being overpaid? Absolutely no chance. Not giving up a lottery pick to dump Kane and take back a dump.Kane (1.2 retained) 1st rd pick

43 points in 56 is a dump. Understood.Absolutely no chance. Not giving up a lottery pick to dump Kane and take back a dump.
