I never had it for the longest time. It is what it is. Another approach is to call your cable company and ask for retention. Tell them the other company offered you such and such an offer and ask what they can offer (if you aren't in a contract). They will generally offer you something, even if it's $20 off for a few months.

Canadians get milked by cable and telecom companies, it's absurd
