Sam Reinhart is The Best Player on The Panthers

And a borderline top 10 player in the world. It’s funny because you watch him play and he has absolutely zero explosiveness. But he is the single smartest player in hockey and is crazy versatile. Best two-way winger of his generation.
No to all 3 claims. He’s a great player though, and he is extremely useful and versatile.

He’s the perfect complimentary player in the perfect situation for him to thrive, hence the results we’ve seen the last couple years.

OOOOffff that last sentence aint it

his expected even strength defensive rating last year was was top 10 amongst forwards and i applaud him for that. but he wasnt once before that in his career. That doesnt mean he is the best of his generation

Just like Huberdeau was supposed to be better than Barkov. Or Forsling more important player than Barkov.

No. Barkov is the best player in that team and it shouldn't even be a matter of discussion. That said, Florida is so stacked it's not even funny.

it is funny, because they were so bad so long

never watched him much before the last 2 playoffs. What’d he change in his game from the Buffalo days and his first 2 years in Florida (where he still put up a lot of points) to scoring 57 last year and now being named the best player on the panthers by an expert?

Just for fun I looked at some recent Buffalo Sabres rosters because so many of their players end up on contenders. Here is their 2020 roster

Taylor Hall-Jack Eichel- Sam Reinhart
Jeff Skinner- Eric Staal- Dylan Cozens
Cody Eakin-Tage Thompson-Viktor Olofsson
Zemgus Girgensons-Curtis Lazar- Kyle Okposo

Rasmus Dhalin- Brandon Montour
Jake McCabe-Henri Jokiharju
Rasmus Ristolainen-Colin Miller

I understand some of these guys were young in Dhalin and Cozens, but how did this team not make the playoffs ?!!!

Edit- I also forgot Linus Ullmark lmao this team was kinda stacked .

Sabres organisation is a trash heap.

Huby, Verhaeghe, Renihart, Forsling... We can go on. When they play with Barkov, suddenly they are superstars? Who make them - Barkov?
Huberdeau and Barkov were on different lines. They did play on the first PP unit together. Huby had similar ice time with Barkov as Tkachuk does. And Reinhart was doing what he is doing now with Barkov out with injury.
Now, Huby and Reinhart do have great chemistry with Barkov when they do play together, that is a fact. But give these guys their credit. And Forsling is a defenseman, and not on a line Barkov, He plays great one on one defensive hockey. And Verhaeghe does his thing on the first or second line. That doesn't mean Barkov isn't really good, or isn't the best player on the team though.

If you took all of the ex-Sabres currently in the league and put them all on one team, it would be a cup contender.

Top players: Eichel, RoR, Reinhart, Mittlestadt, Montour, Ullmark, Hagel(drafted by Buffalo)

It's not just his IQ, but his ability to use his mental powers to affect the game.

Barkov is the best player on the Panthers. This is not, in any way, a slight on Sam Reinhart, who is extremely good.

People say that Reinhart is a very smart player -- I will trust this, the only thing I can judge by is that he's always in the right place and making the right decision -- but his most underappreciated attribute is his insane hand-eye coordination.

Timestamp on this video, first Panthers goal:

He does shit like this all the time.

He started playing with Barkov. Obviously he was great playing with Lundell too, but it is not the same. Plus for example in 21-22, he did not get as much ice time. Maurice said he tried putting Reino with Barkov his first year there in training camp, and there seemed to be good chemistry but goals would go off posts or some passes just didn't connect, etc. But last season, in camp they just clicked. Reino and Barkov click so well together because they are both such smart players, it's like two guys playing in a different league than everybody else most of the time they're on the ice.

Pegula meddles aggressively and brings in mid rookie GMs to do his bidding who bring in mid rookie coaches in turn
