Why not? If you think Ekblad Bennett or Marchand are a more important piece to your team and get a good value back on a trade why wouldnt you move them out?

If the difference comes down to signing Marchand/Ekblad/Bennett or not and you have to trade Rodrigues you wouldnt do that?

Depends how Ek, Marchand, and Erod all do in the playoffs. I’m not opposed to moving Erod, but I’ve already said I don’t expect us to retain Marchand and I’m on the fence with Ek. If we can and it costs Rodrigues, fine.

Kadris contract was thought to be an albatross hes still going pretty well at 34.

Kadri/Bennett are not remotely comparable - Bennett has yet to cross 50 points in any season in his career, while Kadri has done it in 4 consecutive seasons + 7 times in his career and has flirted with producing at a PPG pace multiple times in his career.

In 22' Kadri was 5.77% of the cap at 82.5 million

That would put Bennett at 6.68 million. With extra cap hikes announced the next two years hes going to make more then that.

In the 4 seasons prior to each players UFA season Bennett has .72 ppg and Kadri .79 ppg. They are both #2 centers with grit. Kadri better health at 31 Bennett younger at 28.

Completely totally comparable.
