Dirty play not sure why would be applauding this.
It's literally boarding, though. It's a perfectly legal hit.
It literally isn't.It's literally boarding, though.
It is boarding. From NHL rules:It literally isn't.
Slavin lands at the bottom of the boards because of the ridiculous distance he flew. That's not boarding.
No he didn't. Slavin was making a play on the puck. It's not like it was sitting there for the taking.Has the opportunity to take a loose puck away and step out front. Decides to blow up the player instead.
Good job?
Except it isn't. Slavin didn't hit the boards violently or dangerously. Just because a player makes contact with the boards does not make it boarding. It is boarding. From NHL rules:
"A boarding penalty shall be imposed on any player who checks or pushes a defenseless opponent in such a manner that causes the opponent to hit or impact the boards violently or dangerously."
The head hitting the boards, even at the bottom of the boards, is dangerous.
If that was Bunting delivering that hit Leafs Nation would be peeling their boxers off of their legs and going on about how good Bunting is at hitting.Causing brain injury.
Just like he did to Knies.
What? The only play there is through the body first, you play the puck you're going to get f***ing clowned if Slavin sees you, and you should expect him to.Has the opportunity to take a loose puck away and step out front. Decides to blow up the player instead.
Good job?
he technically hits them and that does suck but it's not what you'd call an expected outcome. Bennett isn't wondering how far he can throw him, he's expecting Slavin to get his head up and provide resistance.
The opponent also quite clearly is defenseless. It's textbook boarding.

His impact with the boards wasn’t violent or dangerous. Barely touched the boards. Back to soccer you goIt is boarding. From NHL rules:

That's not charging, he's not even playing Slavin until he's passed the circles and is allowed to adapt to the play as it unfolds. Takes zero strides, like two c-cuts, there's nothing there.Older I get and the less I like these hits.
Charging into an opponent in his blindsight and giving him a concussion is reckless and these hits will have to be removed at some point.
He did not need to go so fast to separate him from the puck , playoffs or not.
That said, his impact with the boards was violent and probably f***ing sucked. The low part is the most rigid and landing right in that little corner f***ing blows. It's not boarding because who expected him to fly in the air like a pop-tart but landing there sucks serious ass.His impact with the boards wasn’t violent or dangerous. Barely touched the boards. Slavin did not have control of that puck. There for the taking. No he didn't. Slavin was making a play on the puck. It's not like it was sitting there for the taking.
He separated the player from the puck creating a turnover. That's a hockey play.
