It's the beginning of the dark ages. Is Hudler still playing somewhere? Sign him,

I want to cheer for and see Bennett succeed, but it gets very tedious when every post is acting like 1C Bennett has been achieved because of 3 good games, as though we don't have the same discussion about him every year after his 4 good games
I'm a Florida fan and I agree: Bennett is not being asked to be a 1C: He is playing behind one of the best centers in the game and has our two best wingers (currently in the lineup) on his wing. He's doing his job and fits well with this line, but it's not like he's well Barkov scoring with freaking Marchment and waiver Gusev as his wingers.

Will Bennett do well here? Yeah, we have an extremely deep set of wingers: Huby, Duclair, Gusev, Verhaege, Hornqivst and Vatrano. (4 of them are on a 25 goal pace over 82 games) We also aren't asking him to drive the line.

I hope Bennett keeps ripping it up but this hot start should come as no surprise to anyone.

When Bennett plays the game with intensity, passion, and energy he's extremely valuable, the problem has always been his inability to do so on a consistent basis when things are not going his way. I have always been on the side that thought he was heavily mismanaged here and do believe he can be a very productive player (50ish point guy) in the right situation. He doesn't have the IQ or puck skills to be more than that in my estimation.

It's quite funny to see him get 19 minutes of icetime in just his third game as a panther. During his 432 games in a flames uniform he only hit that mark five times and had six points in those games (based on a quick scan through the game logs)

If you can find a Flames fan other than OKG who said this I will ask to have myself banned from this forum permanently.

His instant chemistry with Huberdeau and Duclair is not a good look on Treliving and all the trash coaches here, however.
Even Versteeg, who was a linemate with Bennett said on the deadline show that Bennett is not a top 6 forward and he is not a center. I hate Versteeg, amd it pains me to admit he's a decent analyst, but when your own former linemate says that, it's pretty f***ing damning.

To be fair, he was Bennett's linemate when Bennett was 20, and he was asked to center Versteeg and Brouwer in GG's system. Hard to look like a top 6 player in those circumstances.

Unfortunately it's tough to look like a top 6 center when you're never played at center or alongside any other top 6 forwards.

It's pretty clear he's best suited as a center, so Versteeg was wrong on that count. And in what amounts to his first real shot playing with top 6 wingers, he looks an awful lot like a top 6 center.

How about the fact that I'll trust Darryl Sutter and Joel Quenneville's opinions over Kris Versteeg

Let's wait for the Sportsnet Trade Tree article seven years from now before declaring a winner.
The Panthers were the winners..we received a fair to really good return for Sam Bennett however the Flames lineup is worse and the Panthers appear to be stronger and they only traded 2 lottery balls for it. It doesn't matter if he figures it out or not.
