Solid 5-2 win over Ottawa with Papineau getting the start with a solid game and an assist.
Harmer had another good night with his 15 goal of the year and leading all rookies in goals and points. Cloutier is 2nd in scoring for rookies and had another goal which is a sign that our young players are developing just fine.
With getting Willis and Chernyshov into the lineup will only make Saginaw stronger. All we need is that top 4 D and depth D. How we do that is the question or do we stay with what we have? DD deadline is close.
If the Spirit sell that is an option that has to be considered. Clock is ticking.
If they were in the hunt for the 3 seed and could avoid London until the conference finals, I’d be down for getting a quality defenseman. December put us out of reach for that though. I might be ok with something where we move a F out when Chernyshov comes in. Get something in 25. Then use a later pick for a mid tier D. Soft buy and sell.

Least surprising commit seeing as he's from Vermont. Congrats PJ and good luck in the NCAA next year and beyond.

Congratulation ! On JP Forgione's University of Vermont commitment, love to see this, for all junior players a chance to advance their education after their junior hockey careers. This is how it should be.

Saginaw sign American defenseman Hayden Barch. An 07 who honestly wasn’t even on my radar. Wonder if we are going to see a Guo or Bishop moved now?

I think they would love to move Bishop but as another post said, I don’t think he is on anyone’s radar. Him and Glavin have not played well. Saginaw has 2 defenseman at -4 and -6, Bishop and Glavin. I believe they are usually paired together which isn’t good. Guo is probably the best true defenseman (and still developing) on the team so don’t see them moving him since Saginaw is trying to strengthen their D. Glavin has 8 points and 64 penalty minutes with a -6 while Bishop has 12 points in 30 plus games. They aren’t the worst in league with those stats but makes it hard to beat top teams in the playoffs with that combo I think moving Bishop and Glavin would be a good start but again, not sure they are on anyone’s radar. The other challenge is Saginaw doesn’t have much to give up in order to get defensive help before the deadline. Signing Barch is a good indicator that leadership knows they need to do something.

Agree that those guys are pretty average although I think Bishop is a touch better than his plus minus. If you get him a puck mover to be paired with it would help. Saginaw has no real way of getting a good puck mover but other teams might have that guy for Bishop to be paired with. Plus you can't teach size. Still wouldn't garner a ton but a couple 4ths wouldn't be the worst thing in the world if someone offered that. (That is if he's even being offered).

Holding on to Misa just for at the NHL draft to hear "from the Saginaw Spirit" ? is it really worth it? Could return a huge haul and make the team competitive in 2027 again.
Biggest haul in recent memory would be for him and Parekh (spelling)

It is worth it. We're not a blue-blood franchise and things like that are important to building a reputation even if there's some drawback to it. The Memorial Cup did wonders for our reputation in hockey and a top 5 pick(?) would be the icing on the cake to a pretty incredible run.

If they trade Misa you will see a dramatic drop in attendance almost immediately. You won’t see it from ticket purchases right away but you will see all the corporate season ticket seats empty which will hurt season ticket sales next year. Saginaw sells a lot of season tickets to corporate sponsors and after hyping him for 2 years and trading him now will not go over well. I am not sure anyone has enough to give away in order to get him but I may be wrong. I could see us trading to get Luke Misa to play with Michael.
