Who was the last defenseman this hyped? There hasn't been a real stud defenseman drafted #1 overall that I can think of.

Barry Gibbs, Rick Pagnutti, Denis Potvin, Greg Joly, Rick Green, Rob Ramage, Gord Kluzak, Roman Hamrlik, Bryan Berard, Chris Philips, Erik Johnson, Aaron Ekblad.

To be fair....other years a Dman was in the top 3. General rule is teams pick forward over Dman because it’s easier to get good Dman in the late 1st/2nd than it is to get a forward.

Buffalos clear need is in D.
