Given why they went to them originally, what was going on with the franchise, and the fan outcry to return to the B&G, I get why they did it.

One crazy thought: make the black AGH the home jersey and the white B&G the away jersey...
I like your solution.

I never really liked the royal pajama look that much but absolutely love what used to be the home whites.

Home whites on the road and AGH at home.

Still remember a comment made to me by a guy I was trying to lead to hockey in the late/early 80's/90's (wearing my LAFONTAINE jersey): So you guys are the Buffalo Swords?

Others have called the original logo the Buffalo Shears. Or even the Buffalo Scissors. LOL

I kinda want to see the royal blue jersey with a yellow shoulder yoke. I think that could look pretty sweet.

So you're saying there is SOME chance, which means you won't be watching the run.

I get the line of questioning and message board fans who threaten to quit teams, bands, etc are normally annoying and hollow, and is a tired meme.

I can promise that isn't the case with me, even though Im over 20 years as a STH and 40+ years as a fan. I have felt continually disenfranchised, disgusted, and downright embarrassed by the management and state of the franchise over the past 13 years+. Overall, it feels like Terry Pegula has stolen it from the community for his selfish ends. I have been on the verge of this type of epiphany for various reasons. Changing the colors/logo back would be the straw that breaks the back, as I was a very vocal fan when we (all) were demanding the team go back to blue and gold.

This team in my opinion, is run like the lowest-class NHL franchise. I can take no pride in how it is managed, and what we have. The history and nostalgia becomes more and more distant. We do not get any sort of throwback, the hall of fame has been essentially discontinued/forgotten about. Ownership has alienated my favorite Sabre of all time. I personally know 3 alumni and they loathe Pegula and the organization at this point, wont touch it with a 10 foot pole, and say many others feel the same way. This franchise was purchased to be Terry Pegula's plaything instead of a buying a motorcycle. Even our building is dingy in the bad way, has terrible sight lines, and is generally dead (game presentation is awful). I also tried to cancel my ST last year and they stuck me with them again due to a small print thing like it was a gym membership and were very unfriendly about it. In short, I'm at the point where I dislike this franchise.

They ignored/forgot the 25th anniversary of the 1999 team, and apparently are going to forget the 50th anniversary of the 1975 team. I see Terry Pegula's tears, "fandom" and bringing all the alumni out when he bought the team as incredibly inauthentic. Any fan would not have treated our franchise like this.

I still root for the logo, and some connection to the nostalgia and history. The minute that is severed to make a buck for the black and red thing, (im convinced fans pine for it right now because its the only interesting thing going on with this franchise) its all gone for me. I would rather get behind a franchise who cares and has a connection with their history.

I am militant about 'switching' teams and fake fans, going to college with a lot of shape-shifting NYC people. If this is something I do, I would have committed to it and there would be no going back. It's not something I would do lightly.

Sorry for the long post. To better answer the question... If they switched right now, announced it right away, I would be done with no looking back. I would make a deliberate decision and stick by it.

If they don't switch, and go on a serious cup run, then a lot of my complaints would have been proven as falsehoods and Terry Pegula had the secret sauce all along, and I'm probably in place as a fan, even if they announced a uniform switch after the fact.

I've got a crazier thought: Color blast the league. Do the AGH blacks at home and the blue B&Gs away. Can wear the blacks on the road when we play teams with a blue-based home uni.

And yes, I know the league would never go for it.

I really wish the league would let more color on color matchups happen. So much planning and coordination goes into a professional sports game that it really would not be that difficult for teams to coordinate that between each other.

They have a better winning percentage without pegula and adams also

I really wouldn't care, and do support these as a 3rd jersey (would prefer they be worn 10 or less times though).

I am sensing a pretty big movement by the organization, fueled by a vocal minority of fans who are not apathetic at this point, to make these the primary uniform set. Listening to Biron and Duff on the way hone just now, they spoke of a "love affair" people had for those jerseys the moment they unveiled them in 1996.

I remember protests at the arena in the early 00s to get rid of them. It was one of the first things golisano knew to do from public outcry. He had them wear the originals for the final home game and people went nuts. Then the lockout and uniform timing requirements prevented them from making a change until 2006... and... the slug?

Even with how hideous they were, the slug flew off the shelves.

It's presented like a candid discussion with Gavin Rossdale about the Sabres

"Brian Duff caught up with the band to discuss what makes their song “Machinehead” the perfect anthem for the goathead jerseys."

It turns out to be a bunch of filler, Brian Duff being all giddy, the band not saying anything about the sabres or the jerseys, Gavin Rossdale and Corey Britz holding up the jerseys (and off camera Gavin saying "I held up your sports shirt, make the $2000 check payable to my management company"
