Those are horrible results. The Whalers had the best logo in sports and the Blackhawks have the best logo now - no disrespect to the Red Wings who deserve top 3. Arizona at 2 and Seattle at 6 are just horrible. Was the age cutoff for the voters 15?

I agree with most of that, but I think the Seattle logo is a masterpiece. It almost makes up for their uniquely reprehensible franchise name. But not quite.

Agreed. Seattle pulled off the rare instant classic with their logo, colors, and kits. Coyotes' kachina is also a modern classic imo. No idea how the Wild are top 5 despite the "hidden" beast. Hawks should always be top 5. Ducks need a rebrand in the worst way

Yes, and it is apparently not very popular with Penguin fans, I think. I can sort of understand why, it does not quite work on a jersey. An art deco design hardly ever works as a logo, it is a design philosophy that should be applied to a physical object, like a car, a building, or furniture.

I still think the robopenguin is pretty awesome, and I admire the balls they had to try it as a logo. Maybe someday we will be able to genetically modify real penguins to look like art deco animals. An idea I strongly support.
 
FWIW, the Ducks poll results are simply the same result - hating the current logo is reflected in a high ranking of the vintage logo, not necessarily that the vintage logo is better than other clubs vintage logos. Anaheim could put duck poop on a jersey and it would compare favorably to the current "D wing" logo
 
As much as I like the jersey, it really bothers me to see AGH referred to as “vintage.” I don’t like what it implies about me :laugh: seriously though, the swords and blue and gold are the vintage jerseys.

I was buying a pair of shot glasses at a shop in the concourse tonight. Said "I'll take the old school" referring to the blue and gold, and the woman handed me two goatheads. Took me a second to compute lol.

I've got a crazier thought: Color blast the league. Do the AGH blacks at home and the blue B&Gs away. Can wear the blacks on the road when we play teams with a blue-based home uni.

And yes, I know the league would never go for it.

Some mini conversations happen organically in a thread based on something said by a player, thanks for bringing it over here.

I don't like Pete Guelli, the Pegula's new corporate hatchet man with the happy Corporate Memphis avatar, meddling in the history of the franchise. I get the feeling he'd pander to the lowest common denominator for an extra nickel in Terry's bank account.

Imagine Liverpool or Real Madrid changing their colors decades into existence like they're a fast food chain rebranding - preposterous. The franchise's colors are blue and gold.

If the Sabres make their Black & Red their primary jerseys/branding... I am officially not a fan of this team anymore and I 100% mean it. I can't take these decisions anymore. Captain bald overbite doesn't have a clue or care in the world about the history of this team. I honestly dont believe Pegula cares either.

We almost unanimously revolted for several years to be rid of the Adelphia expansion team colors and uniforms. The dodos gave us the slug, then Navy blue for awhile with numbers on the front. They FINALLY got it right!

But now, everything is so stale and boring with this franchise, who hasnt seen an important game in more than a decade offers something to break the monotony, and give some nostalgia to non-drought years. People naturally have romanticized it. I can handle it as a 3rd jersey (need to wear it way less than 15 times, almost half the home games). But please... stop.

So if they won the cup this year, but exclusively wore black and red, I assume you will not be watching.

There is almost no chance they win the cup this year or any foreseeable year. The ceiling is snaking that 8th playoff spot from Washington and getting walloped in the 1st round by a real team.
I have already been disgusted with ownership and management where I barely watch games anymore (after watching nearly every single game for about 30 years). They ignore the history of the team (tumbleweeds for the 25th anny for 99 and 50th for 75). A uniform switch would be the final straw.

Ill probably either continue to tune out the NHL, or get behind the Leafs, Habs, or Oilers.

I mean, I get it why people like them, its nostalgia for when the team was last good. It's the Hasek era. Last year we had them was 05-06 which was probably the best year of Sabres fandom for most fans today.

But my goodness are they are fugly AF. The black/gold/silver did't work then and doesn't work now.

I'm fine with them as a 3rd jersey, but going back to full time? Gross.

So you're saying there is SOME chance, which means you won't be watching the run.
 
The players love them, the building is electric when they wear them. This is a no brainer. Hearken back to when the team was successful and look good doing it. Literally no downside.
