They're now into Okposo not being a winner because he would come to our depressing, loser town that's never won anything.
Yeah he should have gone to Detroit like Nielsen and celebrate their past accomplishments as they slowly sink into the middle...or joined the worst team in the league like Martin. You know the 2 winners who also abandoned the train to Brooklyn.

Sort of true.
They apparently didn't wanna pay into the 6s for a winger. They had set a firm number of 5 for Okposo and ended up with the tier one winger willing to take 5.5.

He was, at least.
Definitely was one of the most underrated guys in the league. Now though, he might be reaching the point where he's getting over the hill. Last season was a down year for him. We'll see if he rebounds or continues the downward trend.

I'm not a huge fan of the length of Okposo's deal but realize it's part of doing business. When I compare it to other deals, though, it starts to shine like gold. Guys like Ladd and Lucic will be molasses in a few year.

I saw on twitter that Okposo scored more shootout goals last year than the whole Sabres team combined

Having Ennis healthy (assuming he is) should also help us in the shootout. Holy cow were we bad at those lat year. iirc, we only won 1 single shootout all season.

Lehner needs to be better in shootouts too. He did 2 or 3 of them and I don't think he made a save

Yeah he was pretty horrible at it. Hopefully it had more to do with not being fully healed or something.

I thought before the year he was going to get something like 6.5 AAV on a long term deal, so when he hit UFA I thought he'd get 7 AAV.
The face we get him for 6 AAV isn't an overpayment at all, I'd say if anything that's alittle underpaid based on his prior three seasons.
I'm excited, I think he's a legit star player in the NHL.
