Sabres Imbedded, Trade Deadline 2025

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

The only things I took away are that Lindy was pretty adamant the room needed to change when they were talking Cozens trade. Not that Cozens was a problem…that the room just flat out needed to be different.

Also someone must have finally figured out that they have too many stupid players who get lost immediately without the puck because intelligence and two way play were the buzzwords of why they wanted Norris.

And then they played a game of chicken with the league to see if anyone would take Joker and were seemingly surprised they managed to get a future 4th in the end since no one bit until nearly 3.

Also that these people will all be back and we’re most likely f***ed forever because players are only going to want out more after another year of this shit. f***ing GM can’t figure out he should do something during a season destroying 13 game losing streak…I’m sure he will turn it around in one more offseason where they call guys to make sure they’re lifting more.

Borderline more pissed hearing Appert be vocal in this process, than hearing Terry

Random thoughts:

  • I think Adams tries to please too many people.
  • Kevyn asks Lindy if he's comfortable with Norris as our #1 or #2 center. I get Lindy has coached against him, but feel like he's really not the guy to ask
  • Kevyn said "we can all agree he's a 1st PP and 1st pk player". sounds like there were doubts somewhere about the 5v5.
  • Bernard Docker was a throw in
  • Adams kept emphasizing "from a hockey perspective", and "hockey trade" as justification. To me it sounded like there were higher value offers available, but they went with the one that got them the most experienced player.
  • He even mentioned "younger pieces and future pieces" which makes me wonder if someone offered a younger center
  • was marty wilford sleeping at 9:25
  • Feels kind of Bryam-y where they seemed to fixate on one player because someone liked him

I've wondered if the Wild were offering Rossi.

Had the same thought, but didn't want to go there

I do understand there are certain things they like about Norris, and that's fine. I'll still contend that youth does not need to be avoided like the plague if you get the right player. (I'll take this opinion 0-60mph in the draft thread in about 2 minutes)

It would all be so funny if it wasn’t so sad. Between Malenstyn and Norris…Seth Appert has more say over the roster than Lindy has over his assistants

Meanwhile…he runs the disastrous power play. Another reason Kevyn has to go. This is his guy. And he sucks.

Is Norris actually experienced though if we go by number of games played?

I wonder how the players feel about this stuff being posted by the team, lol.

Can't imagine it feels much worse than actually playing under this management/ownership group.

Ruff's emphasis on culture change tells you everything.

I'm not sure Norris when healthy is a 1C ? 2C I think yes, so thats a little worry.

Adams not showing any resistance (that we see) on the 2nd, well

That Sabres doc better be on the money

Crowe making a funny face @1:15 when Adams is describing Norris ?

Adams also mentions it would be hard to give up a center without getting one back, so another offer/deal could of been for a winger or D

'If" the other hockey trade was Rossi thats an interesting debate Norris vs Rossi
I would not mind circling back for Rossi this summer if Peterson is not available

1A/1B Norris/Rossi
3C Mcleod
4C Kozak

Tage/Kulich/Krebs offer center-position, versatility/depth
Helenius/Ostlund cookin on the farm

l'm sure they have to give their permission

Sat through the entire 15 minutes and it does not make me feel good or optimistic. Terry is too involved and too many things are run by him. The Cozens deal - it appears Adams lets Staios dictate the specifics and Adams takes the offer he gets from Staios rather than trying to negotiate. We can't get everything from a 15 minute edited video but we're shown Adams shopping Cozens to a bunch of different teams and then getting the exact offer the deal winds up being from Staios.

It also seems like too much time and effort is spent into shopping Joki for a late fourth in 2026 - and again Adams takes the first deal offered. I get that he was their last player on an expiring contract but it's just not that valuable a pick for that much time and effort around the TDL. Wish they were talking about ideas to make the team better with more impact than a late 2026 4th.

To elaborate. Kevyn looks beaten. Just broken down and beaten and his inexperience and ineptitude are in full display. There doesn't even seem to be any vibes or joy or anything. These guys all look like people who expect to be out of a job. Holy shit it's awful.

He took a Joker deal at 2:49 with a 3pm deadline after, you claim, spending too much time on it.

It wasn’t the first offer. It was the only offer.

Kevyn is worse than Milbury and isn't far off from the worst GM in the history of hockey Ed Johnston aka The Man Who Killed The Hartford Whalers. If there was a living breathing commissioner he would be stepping in and reading Pegula the riot act because right now to call this organization Bush League is an insult to Bush Leagues. How was there nobody with any common sense to tell them "you really shouldn't let this footage see the light of day"?
